We had an amazing journey on our bike trip. Despite the heat (34C) each day, we managed well, stopping for breaks. Our tour leaders with Intrepid, Igor and Andro, were knowledgeable, organized and tended to our many needs. We were a small group of 4 participants which provided us with a small family atmosphere allowing us to get to know each other more. Our favourite days were the ones where we rode fewer kms so we had more time to explore in our destinations. Really enjoyed riding through the countryside - beautiful fields of sunflowers, views of the Danube and amazing meals at recommended restaurants. The leaders, accommodations, and experience far exceeded our expectations.
Cycle the DanubeWeather was very good.Bit of rain one morning but cleared by afternoon. September good time - not too hot in Croatia and alpine weather still pleasant.Bohinj lake is beautiful and cream cake was fantastic.
Slovenia, Italy & Croatia Cycling: Alps to AdriaticAlthough the "biking" was not on my bucket list (was talked into the trip by our brother/sister-in-law), but we had a very great time! Mindaugas was a great guide, and our driver was also great. The hotels were fine, the food was excellent, and the biking was better than I'd expected! Our fellow companions were delightful. The history and tours of the Baltic countries was wonderful. It would have been nice to have had a microphone hook-up during our guided walking tours in order to hear all the information. It would have been nice to be able to buy t-shirts (Mindaugas wore a few) that displayed a map of the tour. I think it would have been nice if we could have ordered them before or after the trip. Is it possible to do so now? Otherwise, I'd never done anything like this before, and may do it again at some point.

What our customers ask about Bicycle Tours & Trips in Europe
What are the top cycling routes in Europe for scenery and adventure?
European cycling routes range from coastal paths to mountain trails that connect multiple countries. The Munich to Merano route winds through traditional Bavarian villages and Alpine passes while the Croatian coast lets cyclists hop between islands like Hvar and Korčula. Notable paths include Lahemaa National Park in Estonia where cyclists pedal through forests and ancient bogs. Accommodations along these routes add to the experience with places like the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Garmisch-Partenkirchen offering direct views of Germany's highest peak the Zugspitze.
What type of accommodation can I expect on European bicycle tours?
Cyclists can expect to rest their heads in mid-range hotels and local guesthouses that reflect the region's character. The Lake Constance route features nights at the Lindauer Hof a waterfront hotel on Lindau island while the Alps crossing includes stays at Geneva's Hotel Rotary MGallery. Some routes like the Cycle Romania tour mix traditional guesthouses with standard hotels. A recent traveler noted: "The family owned traditional guest houses were a particular highlight for me especially the first two we stayed in during the Romanian countryside."
What's included in typical European bicycle tour packages?
European bicycle tours typically cover the essentials: lodging daily breakfast bike equipment and luggage transport between stops. The Lake Constance tour provides hybrid bikes route briefings and accommodations at locations like the Parkhotel St. Leonhard. Many itineraries including the Alps crossing cover additional costs such as train tickets cable car rides and entry fees. According to one cyclist: "Our guide Razvan really made this a fantastic trip. Together with our driver Geo he made sure everything ran smoothly with great support and local insights."
How much cultural sightseeing is included in European bicycle tours?
The routes combine active cycling with stops at historical and cultural sites. The Central Europe tour stops at the UNESCO-listed Cesky Krumlov and Budapest's thermal baths. Lake Constance cyclists explore medieval abbeys and Roman ruins between rides. One participant's experience in Romania: "Great to see rural Romania up close and to hear about the history and culture from our ever-patient guide Bogdan. Each day was a good mix of cycling and sightseeing."
When is the best time to go on a bicycle tour in Europe?
Prime cycling weather in Europe extends from April through October with regional variations. Southern Spain's Murcia region works best in spring (March-May) or fall (September-October). The Dalmatian Coast sees ideal conditions from May to September. A cyclist's note about France: "May was perfect with comfortable temperatures and beautiful spring blossoms in the vineyards." Mediterranean areas often become too hot for comfortable riding during peak summer months.
What are the typical daily cycling distances on European bicycle tours?
Most European cycling tours cover between 40 and 70 kilometers (25-43 miles) per day depending on terrain and difficulty level. The Munich to Lake Garda route averages 70km through Bavaria's lake region while the Alpe-Adria path offers easier 30-40km segments. More demanding routes like the Central Europe tour reach up to 70km daily. A Romania tour participant shared: "The cycling routes beautiful countryside and wonderful historic towns made the daily distances feel manageable and rewarding."
