We had it all the kindest, most thoughtful tour manger Lucas, ever, Jacob camera man personal photographer and videographer and Ioana who proudly showed us her amazing country and heritage. This trip had it all, local food, beautiful streets and scenery. It’s amazing how much you get to see that you wouldn’t on an ordinary package trip. Not to mention seeing Draculas castle, Pele castle which is so pretty. Staying two nights in a vinyard, outside a pretty town Sighisora. Bear watching the only place you can watch bears in natural in habitat playing doing all fun bear tricks with out being held and trained in captivity. Such an experience. Gyspy village experience with dancing and shots. Saw so many regions and different styles. Indy Escapes is an amazing company. Lucas looks after you so you don’t need to think about anything but turning up on time. Safety is everything to Lucas. Every adventure you become part of a family. It’s never goodbye it’s how soon can we meet again with Lucas and his teams in different locations. If you want to see Romania this trip has it all and the best people you good ever hope to meet. I don’t think I could do another trip with out Lucas as the experience and passion that Lucas puts in to ever trip every day is unique and so rare from any one person. I joined the Sri Lanka trip where we went on safari, did surf lessons, cooking classes which were incredible, but my highlight was the train from Kandy to Ella!! From there I joined the connecting trip to the Maldives where we swam with whale shark, manta, and even dolphins, explored a shipwreck and drank a couple of cocktails at a resort! The effort that Lucas and the team puts in to ensure everyone has the most amazing time is admirable. It’s a trip I will never forget and safe to say, this will not be my only trip with Indy Escapes. South Ari atoll is one of the only places in the world where you can see Whale Sharks all year round - this is why we chose this location for our encounter. We don't like to over promise and underdeliver, so we generally tell our guests and enquiries that there is a 50/50 chance to see the Whale Sharks. We also work with SAMPA (South Ari Protected Marine Park Area), along with other operators to try and maximise the opportunity to see them. If we do not see them, there is a second opportunity to try again on our final day in Maafushi which will cost between $80-100 USD per person.

Our Indy Representatives and Guides will meet the group in the arrivals area at Velana International Airport in Male at 12 pm, then guide you to the correct jetty for our private speedboat departure at 1 pm, which is included at no extra cost. If that timing doesn't work, we can also assist with arranging a public speedboat at 4 pm for 40 USD per person.

As a solo female traveller, you'll 100% be paired in a twin-share room with another solo female guest. Most of our travellers come alone, and the group always bonds quickly. We do not book flights as our guests fly in from all over the world, but we're more than happy to confirm if your flight times align with the group. For the tour starting on Saturday 10 January 2026, we recommend arriving in Malé by 12pm, as our transfer to the first island departs shortly after. Some guests choose to fly in a night early to settle in — totally up to you. Either way, we'll add you to the WhatsApp group before the trip so you can coordinate with the other travellers and ask any last-minute questions.
