I joined my first Indy trip as a solo female traveller on a fitness retreat in Bali. I met so many amazing people that had travelled with Indy Escapes in other destinations and it seemed that the Maldives was the most popular so I decided to sign up and it did not disappoint!
Firstly, the people that I have met on the Indy trips have been the highlight, I’ve made genuine connections with people from all over the world. The crowd is full of “young professions” which are essentially people in their mid 20s to late 30s that want to travel with likeminded people that are a little over the standard cheaper backpacking trips, and appreciate a little less party and a little more comfort.
The Maldives - Wow!! I always thought this was a honeymoon place but it is so much more. Whale Shark, Manta, Turtles, Pilot Whales, plus shipwrecks, intro scuba dive, bonfire dinners and some cocktails at an all inclusive resort to top it off!! The itinerary is FANTASTIC and the guides were epic, always taking photos and videos for all of the group and sharing them with us for free!
If you’re a solo traveller looking to connection with genuine people, don’t hesitate - Just book!!

Just finished another 7 day trip with Indy Escapes. We had it all the kindest, most thoughtful tour manger Lucas, ever, Jacob camera man personal photographer and videographer and Ioana who proudly showed us her amazing country and heritage.
This trip had it all, local food, beautiful streets and scenery. It’s amazing how much you get to see that you wouldn’t on an ordinary package trip.
Not to mention seeing Draculas castle, Pele castle which is so pretty. Staying two nights in a vinyard, outside a pretty town Sighisora.
Bear watching the only place you can watch bears in natural in habitat playing doing all fun bear tricks with out being held and trained in captivity. Such an experience. Gyspy village experience with dancing and shots.
Saw so many regions and different styles.
Indy Escapes is an amazing company. Lucas looks after you so you don’t need to think about anything but turning up on time. Safety is everything to Lucas. Every adventure you become part of a family. It’s never goodbye it’s how soon can we meet again with Lucas and his teams in different locations. If you want to see Romania this trip has it all and the best people you good ever hope to meet.
I don’t think I could do another trip with out Lucas as the experience and passion that Lucas puts in to ever trip every day is unique and so rare from any one person.

This was an amazing trip where I met amazing people who struggle to travel affordably as friends never have time or other commitments. Lucas was an amazing guide with such a big heart, patience, attention to detail and commitment to make sure everyone is included and feels good about them selves. As one of the oldest in the group I did not feel out of place. Regardless of your age you will feel at ease.
The trip is amazing value for money. Lucas goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is included moment is captured for you so you don’t have to worry about not being in any photos. His knowledge is amazing and he has worked so hard with hotels and other companies to make unique experience like private dinners on the beach. Nothing is too much.
His choice in hotels is perfect. They are all excellent quality and so clean and friendly.
Take as many outfits as you like. Lucas makes sure that your bags are transported at all times so you don’t need to worry about lifting and moving them.
Really enjoyed seeing all the sea life turtles, dolphins,leopard sharks, nurse sharks. Fish. Also did my first scuba dive thanks to patience of Lucas.
The resort day is amazing. Seeing different islands and being away from large amounts of tourists is great. Don’t hold back from going it’s worth the money. I’ll never get the chance normally to do it.
You get the feel of island life. Do as much or as little as you like when your with Indy escapes

The wildlife encounters were absolutely breathtaking. Swimming alongside a majestic whale shark and gliding through the water with graceful manta rays were moments I’ll never forget. Lucas and the local guides made sure we felt safe and comfortable while teaching us about these incredible creatures and their habitats. It was magical to be so close to nature and share those surreal moments with my boyfriend and our new friends.

Comfortable and safe as a solo female traveller. It was so lovely also being apart of a small company tour that is so unique and well thought out, rather than a large company with many guides. He ordered the trip in a way that could include extreme bucket list moments (such as feeding giraffes, patting elephants and watching cheetahs attack in the Masai Mara) and also relaxing times by the pool with friends while still experiencing true Kenyan culture. We got to visit a school, a special school, a slum and also be apart of several meaningful projects which felt very special too. We had such a brilliant group of 20 likeminded people, had lovely accommodations and ate such delicious and traditional food. I couldn’t recommend this trip, Lucas and Indy Escapes enough for a bucket list safari adventure!
Uganda-
I was recently one of Indy Escapes Uganda and Rwanda gorilla trekking tours and let me tell you, it was nothing short of mind blowing. If gorilla trekking is on your bucket list, you must join this trip! Firstly, our guide Lucas (also the creator, manager and CEO of the small travel company) was incredible and made me feel so so safe as a female solo traveller in Africa! He was such a mature, organised and fun guide with so much knowledge on Rwanda and Uganda. The gorilla trekking day was so surreal and the other guides involved were also great. This trip has a little bit of everything and is not too rushed either. I really loved this trip and would do it again!

I did the Turkey Sail and it was the perfect mix of activity and also downtime to enjoy the beautiful coastline - a highlight for me, something not included was the captain of the boat taking us to feed and swim with turtles - one of many examples of the boat crew going the extra mile for our enjoyment and experience
10/10 would recommend and I will 100% be going on another Indy escape!

Would I get to experience the real Kenya? What if I didn’t gel with the rest of the group?
I had nothing to worry about. The trip was phenomenal, in fact it sits up there with the top trips I’ve ever been on. The tour leader, Lucas Chesterton, was fabulous. We had a truly immersive experience working with NGOs in Nairobi and before then heading to the Masai Mara on safari.
The group was fun, the pace was right and I enjoyed Lucas’s guiding style so much that I then booked a second trip with him for 2024.
I could not recommend Lucas and Indy Escapes any more highly.

Highlights:
- Maldives is GORGEOUS. The water is even better than it looks on Instagram. (We had perfect weather!)
- The itinerary is very well thought out and found it logical and a good mix. This is definitely a tour for water babies!
- I did all the optional extras and all were worthwhile.
-Hotels were comfortable, clean and basically on the beach
- Group dynamics suited me perfectly - average age around 33. 75% female, 60% solos, 65% Australians (rest mainly UK/US), all well travelled and focused on adventure more than partying.
-Price: I spent $2100 total in the week (tour, extras, food, all in) which is amazing for the Maldives.
- Guide: Lucas is the guide and owner and you can feel the extra passion and care that goes into guiding for your own business.
Some considerations:
- Weather would have been a major factor. We were lucky to have only perfect days... If not a little hot!(Pack double the amount of sunscreen you think you need)
- Maldives is a Muslim country - there is NO alcohol outside of resorts (which is not where we stay)
I would absolutely recommend this Maldives tour - it was a perfect week in paradise and everything I hoped for and more. I would absolutely do another tour with Indy Escapes in the future- it's the perfect group travel solution for solo travellers in their 30s.

I was really scared of open water and I’d booked this trip to try and conquer my fear. He was excellent. He was patient and encouraging and help me conquer my fear. Not only was I happy to jump in the water by the end of the trip but he had me swimming with sharks, mantas, whale sharks and even diving with turtles! I can think him enough. I don’t think I would have had the confidence to do any of that with anyone else!
The trip itself was also fantastic. I got to see a side of the Maldives I didn’t know about. We stayed in local islands, hang out with locals, tried delicious food, and stayed in lovely accommodation. I would thoroughly recommend Indy Escapes for anyone wanting to explore the Maldives!

The Maldives certainly is an incredible place, but this tour expanded it to a once in a lifetime opportunity I’ll remember forever.
Absolutely the best part of a 7 week holiday. The crew, tour guide were all fantastic. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to sail through Croatia.

All the extra trips, night out and adventures were optional although everyone wanted to do everything because they were having a great time together. The food was amazing considering the small kitchen. The bar prices are reasonable and the bartender is generous! The boat is fantastic - spacious rooms and dining area as well as a shaded rooftop for chilling out. Thanks everyone at Koda sail for their hard work to make it a week to remember. Would definitely go with Koda next time I travel and would highly recommend !!
I had the most amazing week. Lucas was a fantastic host! The only thing that could have made it better were some SUP boards on the boat for the swim stops. Will definitely be doing another Koda tour!

It was the perfect mix of relaxation and on the go activities. To be honest, with the cost of the trip I was thinking we would be in not so great accommodations and I was pleasantly surprised at how large our room/bathroom was. Lucas was a great guide, always making sure everyone was OK and happy. He even went out and bought us avocados so we could make avocado toast at breakfast which I thought was extremely kind of him. I would recommend this trip to any of my friends and hope to sail with them again in the near future!

My only negative? That it had to end. Travelling around Croatia with Koda Sail was incredible - great boat, great food, and the greatest fellow travellers!

Lucas was a wonderful guide! He made sure to always include everyone and make sure we were all happy to be doing whatever it was we were doing that day. It is obvious he loves what he does and it can be seen through the way he talks about the places we visit, and how he is always up for an adventure. Lucas often went above and beyond, organizing dinners so we wouldn’t have to wander aimlessly in town, or buying avocados to make sure our vegans had something more to eat during meals. Lucas and the Casanova crew made accommodations based on the weather and whatever was safest for us travelers.
The Casanova was a great accommodation. It was nice to have a clean place to stay with AC. The Casanova crew was very hardworking and made sure we were always well taken care of, regardless of what we needed.

I had heard great things but it was so much better than I could have ever imagined. It was the perfect way to see Croatia’s beautiful coastline with the perfect mix of activities and relaxing. Lucas and Chris clearly love what they do which makes the experience all the more enjoyable. The best part of the trip was definitely the friendships that I formed with the rest of the group. Koda have created the perfect tour for young professionals who still like to have a great time. I can’t wait to explore Turkey with them next year!

I had an amazing time in Maldives! 🇲🇻 It was a good combination of adventure and chill days and evenings, with 2 days free to plan it on our own, and the rest was booked with wildlife adventures. Activities included swimming with sharks, turtles, stingrays, manta rays etc. and as much as some of it might sound a bit scary, it was one of the best experiences and the most peaceful I ever had. Lucas took a good care of everything and made sure everyone is feeling comfortable. I especially appreciated that no one felt pressured to do any of the activities, instead we were encouraged and not pushed. I personally panic sometimes in a deep and unknown water, but I felt so comfortable and safe. The people in the group were also very kind and helpful, and at the same time fun and interesting people to be around. I especially liked that Lucas made sure wildlife is treated with respect, and we do not do any harm to any of the sea creatures. Indy Escapes is definitely not just one more travel agency that will take you to sightseeing sport for a quick picture and to make as much money as possible, it is for sharing experiences, creating meaningful connections, and discovering beautiful world while caring for each other and for the nature around. Highly recommended!
