We have availability for our 7th March and 14th March 2026 departure dates. We have 13 people booked on our 7th March departure, 1 person from Canada and the rest from England. We have 5 people booked on our 14th March departure, all from England. Anyone is welcome to book our trips from around the world. Our trips are formed and organised by a team of experts at Explore! and our local agents. Our local agents are from the local area and can provide the best knowledge of the area. The local agent will speak English; they may be able to speak French or translate for you, but this is not guaranteed. All our trips are priced on a twin share basis, and you are welcome to share with another person. If you book a twin share, you will be sharing with someone else who is the same gender.

I am a fairly fit Septuagenerian with 2 new hips. I hike everyday, but not for hours on end. I'm curious about the level of fitness and endurance required for the hikes. Are there regular rest stops?

We've graded the walking on this tour as moderate. You should have a good level of fitness and an enjoyment of the outdoors to take part. It's worth noting that while the trails are well-maintained there are some undulating stretches - supportive, comfortable walking shoes are a must! It can get quite hot in the Canaries, even in October. We recommend packing light layers and sun protection and carrying water with you at all times. La Gomera is relatively untouched by tourism and gives us a real authentic taste of Spanish island life. That being said, the local restaurants don't cater well to different diets and there are very limited options for vegans and vegetarians. The day by day itinerary in the trip notes outlines hiking times each day and there will be opportunities to have stops along the way.

Is it essential to bring hiking boots or could I bring sturdy runners?

We recommend you bring walking boots with ankle support- leather or fabric are both fine. Make sure that your boots are worn-in and comfortable before the start of the trip. Also trainers or sandals for relaxing and general wear. We suggest that on international flights you either carry your walking boots in your hand luggage or wear them - should your luggage be lost or delayed, your own boots are the one thing that will be irreplaceable.

What is the group composition of this tour commencing 22 Dec, by age group, gender, number of solos etc

The tour has 10 guests with 6 spots available. Most travelers are solo, slightly more women than men, with ages ranging from late 40s to early 60s, and one person in early 80s.

How strenuous are the hikes. We are fit and active 75-80 year olds. Climbing harder than distance.

This trips walks are moderate, for those who are fit and active these moderate walks are normally on good paths and tracks on lo altitude. Days may include some fairly demanding ascents and descents, so previous experience is preferable but not essential.
