- Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu
You'll land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu where someone from the company meets you for the transfer to your hotel. Later that evening, you get to meet the other trekkers and your trek team members before things officially kick off.

Kathmandu City Tour
After breakfast, a guided tour takes you through Kathmandu city hitting four UNESCO World Heritage sites. You'll walk around Pashupatinath Temple to see the sacred cremation ghats along the Bagmati River, then check out Boudhanath Stupa with its white dome and prayer wheels. Kathmandu Durbar Square comes next with its old palaces and temples including the living goddess at Kumari Chowk. The day wraps up at Swayambhunath on the hillside where you get valley views and encounter the monkeys the place is named for.

Trek to Namche Bazaar
Your trek starts as you walk through pine forests beside the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges including the Hillary bridge. The route passes through Benkar, Chumoa, and Monjo before you enter Sagarmatha National Park at Jorsale. Early glimpses of Mt. Thamserku appear, and if conditions cooperate, Mt. Everest shows up over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge as you approach Namche Bazaar.

Trek to Namche Bazaar from Phakding
The trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar follows the scenic Dudh Koshi riverside path. You'll walk through pleasant forests of pine, fir, and rhododendron with impressive mountain views around most turns. After passing through Monjo, which marks the park entrance, you continue toward Namche Bazaar with the river in sight for much of the day.

Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar
You've got a full day to acclimatize in Namche Bazaar with several options for how to spend it. Visit the Tourist Visitor Center at Sagarmatha National Park headquarters to learn about Sherpa culture and local wildlife. Another choice is hiking to Thame or checking out Khunde. If exploring Namche itself appeals more, you can head to Khumjung and climb toward Syangboche airstrip and the Everest View Hotel, visit the monastery with its yeti scalp, or tour Hillary School before returning to town.

Trek to Tengboche
From Namche Bazaar, you trek through alpine forest toward Tengboche with the mountain views getting better as you climb. Watch for Himalayan pheasants, musk deer, and herds of Himalayan Thar along the way. You'll get panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku during the ascent, and the whole landscape feels more open and high.

Trek to Dingboche
The trek from Tengboche to Dingboche takes about 5 to 6 hours through several Chortens and past Mani walls and small villages. Mountain views stay close and beautiful the whole way. When you arrive in Dingboche, you'll see the traditional fields enclosed by stone walls, protecting barley, buckwheat, and potatoes from the cold and grazing animals.

Acclimatization Day in Dingboche
Another acclimatization day at high altitude in Dingboche gives your body time to adjust before moving higher. You'll rest and prepare for the next stage while surrounded by views of snow-capped peaks including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam filling the horizon.

Trek to Lobuche
The trek from Dingboche to Lobuche reaches 4,940m as the trail descends to the Khumbu Glacier moraine. Great peaks like Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori, and Mahalangur Himal loom nearby, though Mt. Everest stays hidden for now. Nuptse towers to your right as you cross the glacier area, hiking along a stream while starting to feel the altitude more strongly.

Trek to Gorak Shep and Everest Base Camp
You'll trek for roughly 6 to 7 hours to reach Gorak Shep at 5,170m surrounded by snow-capped mountains. After lunch and rest, the trek continues to Everest Base Camp through the old Gorak Shep Lake area where you see the Khumbu Icefall and the hazardous route climbers use. From base camp itself, Nuptse, Khumbutse, and Pumori are visible though Everest stays out of sight here. You return to Gorak Shep for the night, though guides can arrange a sunset hike to Kala Patthar if energy allows.

Kala Patthar Sunrise and Return
Early morning in cold darkness, you head up Kala Patthar to catch sunrise hitting Mt. Everest. The first light spreads across the peak from this vantage point, with Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse rising to the east as Everest emerges between the west shoulder and Nuptse. You'll stop at several outstanding viewpoints during the climb, then reach the rocky summit marked by cairns and prayer flags. The Himalayan panorama from here justifies the early start before you head back to Gorak Shep for breakfast and gradually descend toward Lobuche.

Lobuche Base Camp and Climbing Training
From Lobuche, you trek to Lobuche Base Camp where the path starts flat then becomes steeper and rocky. Great views of Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Pokalde, Thamserku, and Kantega frame the approach. After lunch and rest at base camp, your guides give you comprehensive training on peak climbing techniques and equipment including ice axes, climbing boots, harnesses, and rope work, covering proper technique and knot work to build your confidence.

Trek to Lobuche High Camp
After breakfast, you hike from Lobuche Base Camp to High Camp, taking about 4 hours to reach 5,600m/18,368ft. The rocky moraine path leads upward from base camp to high camp where you set up, have lunch, and rest. You can also take a walk around the area to help your body acclimatize to the elevation.

Lobuche East Summit
Summit day arrives and you start early in the morning for the push to the top. Once you reach the Lobuche East summit, the panoramic views reward the effort with Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Pumori, and many more peaks spread across the horizon. Lobuche East actually offers more panoramic views than other well-known peaks like Island Peak. You'll spend time celebrating and taking pictures at the summit before heading back to High Camp.

Trek Back to Pangboche
You trek downhill from Lobuche Base Camp and rejoin the Everest Base Camp route at Lobuche for lunch. Then you retrace your path to Pheriche with views of Mt. Amadablam in the distance and other peaks including Pokalde, Thamserku, and Kantega. In spring, rhododendron and juniper-covered hillsides blaze pink and red. From Pheriche, continue to Pangboche where the famous Pangboche Monastery sits waiting for a quick visit.

Trek to Namche Bazaar
You cross the prayer flag-decorated bridge over the Dudh Koshi River and follow the gorge downward through pine forests. The trail reaches Sansa, a major junction, offering views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Nuptse. After lunch, the path clings to steep wooded slopes through several curves. Keep an eye out for mountain goats, snow leopards, and colorful pheasants. Past a Chorten and the army camp, you reach Namche Bazaar where a final look back captures Lhotse and Everest's tip along with Tengboche. A hot shower and comfortable sleep await at your lodge.

Trek to Lukla
A steep descent requires careful slow footwork as your legs navigate rocky terrain. You cross suspension bridges over the fast-flowing Dudh Koshi and tributaries as the trail flattens out naturally and warming temperatures kick in. Any lingering colds or sore throats should clear as you descend. Though you're retracing the same route down, the views feel completely different with open plains, rhododendron and pine forests, and snow peaks in the distance. Walking through Sherpa villages, you'll notice their Buddhist faith, prayer stones, and prayer flags. Reaching Lukla, you stretch out those sore legs and reflect on the last couple of weeks.

Fly to Kathmandu and Farewell
After breakfast, you head to the airport for the flight back to Kathmandu and the rest of the day opens up for rest or souvenir hunting. In the evening, head to Thamel for shopping with friends and family in mind. The day ends with a farewell dinner at an authentic Nepalese restaurant that includes a cultural performance.
