Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
Start with an early breakfast before flying into Lukla, the high-altitude airstrip built by Sir Edmund Hillary. Once you land, there's time to walk around the village while your Sherpa team gets everything organized. By afternoon, you'll begin trekking downward along the Dudh Kosi River, passing through Ghat and arriving at Phakding for your first night.

- Day 2
Phakding to Namche Bazaar
The trek takes you through pine, fir, and juniper forests next to the Dudh Koshi River. If the weather cooperates, you might catch views of Mt. Thamserku and Mt. Everest. You'll cross five suspension bridges, including the Hillary Bridge, before the uphill walk to Namche Bazaar, which serves as the main trading center and gateway to Mt. Everest. Sleep overnight in Namche Bazaar.

- Day 3
Namche Bazaar Acclimatization
This is your second night in Namche, giving your body time to adjust to the altitude. After breakfast, you can choose between two options: walk up toward Thami above the Bhote Khola river valley, or head to the National Park Headquarters to see exhibits on Sherpa culture, mountaineering history, and regional wildlife. The headquarters also offers nice views of the Khumbu peaks and Everest during sunrise and sunset.

Namche Bazaar to Phortse
Today you'll trek around Khumbilya's lower slopes through birch forest and onto open grassy terrain to reach a stupa at Mongla, which sits at 3992m/13,094ft. The mountain views from here are excellent, and you can see Phortse village across the valley with its stone-walled fields. From there, switchback trails take you down to the Dudh Kosi River, cross it, then climb up to Phortse for the night.

Phortse to Dingboche
Climb through the high ridge of Imjakhola where you might spot Blood Pheasant, Danphe Pheasant, Musk Deer, and Himalayan Thar on the steep slopes. You'll ascend and descend gradually toward Pangboche, where Ama Dablam rises dramatically above the village. There's a monastery here that once held a famous Yeti scalp. In the afternoon, continue ascending above the Imja Khola past tea houses at Orsho before crossing to Dingboche.

Dingboche Acclimatization
This is your second acclimatization day with about six hours of trekking to reach 5100m/16,728ft, following the 'climb high, sleep low' strategy. You'll ascend Nagerjun, the only hill directly above Dingboche at the edge of Chhukung valley. The footpaths get steep at times, making this a tiring day. From this elevation, you'll see Lobuche East, Lobuche West, Taboche Peak, Thamserku, Kangtega, Ama Dablam, and possibly Makalu on clear days.

Dingboche to Chukhung
An easier day with roughly two hours of walking and gradual climbing to reach Chukhung, a small settlement. You'll have nice views of Island Peak during the walk, which builds anticipation for the climb ahead.

Chukhung to Island Peak Base Camp
The trail crosses the river and follows the valley for about three hours, passing underneath the south face of Lhotse. You'll reach base camp beside the Imja glacier, below steep grassy slopes where the Island Peak climb begins.

- Day 9
Island Peak High Camp
Climb a bit further to high camp where you'll rest and prepare everything for tomorrow's summit push on Island Peak.

Landmarks Island Peak High Camp - Day 10
Island Peak Summit
Summit day starts with about an hour of climbing to a narrow ridge leading onto the glacier. You'll rope up and put on crampons for the glacier crossing and steep snow slopes leading to the summit ridge. From the top, there are close-up views of Lhotse's south face and mountains in every direction. Descend the same route back to base camp.

Island Peak Base Camp to Tengboche
Head back down to Tengboche at 3860m/12,664ft, retracing your steps through Dingboche, Pangboche, and Diboche. This descent takes about six hours.

Tengboche to Monjo
After breakfast, descend steeply through juniper, rhododendron, and fir forests to Phunkitenga where you'll stop for tea. Cross the Dudh Kosi and climb to Trashinga, then the trail contours high above the valley through Shanasa before gradually dropping to Namche Bazaar for lunch. Finally, descend to Monjo for an overnight stay.

Monjo to Lukla
Your last trekking day is a short walk down the valley followed by the final climb to the airstrip at Lukla. After lunch at the lodge, the afternoon is free to explore, relax, or take a hot shower. That evening, celebrate with your crew over a farewell dinner featuring Chhang (mountain beer made from fermented rice) and learn some Sherpa dance steps.
