Why are there no departure dates for June and July?

Unfortunately we do not have any departures after May for our Jo'Burg to Falls Overland Safari. An option that we have that is similar to this that leaves in June is our Falls, Matobo & Kruger - 7 day tour which you can do as a camping or accommodated option. Prices in June are as follows Camping option: $1177 per person twin share Accommodated option: $ 1607 per person twin share this tour also runs in the reverse.

The tour is camping, so solo travelers will be paired up with another solo traveler of the same gender and you will share the same tent. If there is no other solo traveler on the tour then you will have a tent to yourself.

what is meant 2 for 1???? And what kind visa I need it ? ( I am US passport)

Our 2 for 1 sale means that two people can travel for the price of one; if you know someone who may wish to travel with you, you will both receive a 50% discount. USA passport holders currently do not require a tourist visa for South Africa for stays of up to 90 days. USA passport holders require a visa to enter Zimbabwe which can be obtained upon arrival at the border, or in advance from an embassy. At present the cost of a single entry visa is USD $30.

how would you get back to Jo'burg at end of tour?

Victoria Falls has an international airport, so many will plan their flights home from there or back to Joburg if they wish.

I would love to join this tour but unfortunately, I cannot find a partner. Could you pair me with another female traveller so that we can both take advantage of this 2 for 1 deal?

Unfortunately this special is only valid for two people travelling and booking together and we are unable to match up clients in order to take advantage of this sale. Most of our sales have discounts for solo passengers as well, our 2 for 1 sale though is just for when two people book though.

Why does this tour show 18-60? I am 72. Problems?

All ages above 18 are welcome on this tour and we would love for you to join us! We just want to make sure that guests over the age of 60 are aware that the majority of the group will be younger, but I don't think camping ever gets boring so if you are fit and like to participate then this could be a tour that you would enjoy! The only thing we do ask if you are over 69 is that you fill out a tour suitability form to make sure that this is the right tour for you and that you will be able enjoy it.

What if you are over 60 years of age? You can't go?

We certainly can accept travellers over 60. We do ask that for customers over the age of 70 that they complete a tour suitability form thats all.

We have successfully held a space for you on the Jo''burg to Falls - 12 Days for 48 hours. Please note there is a local payment of $630pp paid in USD when you start your tour. This is one of our Overland Camping trips - What does it involve? Each overland truck is completely self-sufficient, carrying everything you could possibly need during your adventure. The trucks each have a fully equipped kitchen (food, cutlery, pots and pans and a gas stove). Chores such as cleaning, washing up and helping the crew to shop for supplies and prepare food are shared amongst all passengers, so you have to be prepared to roll up your sleeves and muck in. Despite this, you'll still have plenty of free time to relax and enjoy some sightseeing or wildlife spotting. There are sightseeing activities and game drives included in our itineraries, as well as plenty of free time for you to spend at leisure. In some destinations we'll be able to dine at local restaurants as well, to give us all a night off cooking!

We had a great time. Our guide Lucky was friendly and personable. He drove carefully. The JNB airport pickup was prompt. We had a meeting and welcome dinner. The nexxt morning, we drove to Kruger National Park and stayed in a lodge for 3 nights. It took almost one day to reach the lodge. The lodge was fine, with good breakfasts and clean rooms. During the next two days, we did game drives. We saw so many elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hyenas, and impalas. We also saw lions 3 times, and leopards 1 time from afar. After Kruger, we had another long day driving to a private game reserve for 2 nights. The tent we stayed was nice, with private bathroom. We did a sunset game drive and saw some animals. After another long day driving on some of the worst roads and 2 boader crossings, we stayed in a lodge for 1 night. In the next morning, we visited a place that looked a lot like a desert, and saw some animals. Then we drove about 5 hour to Chobe National Park. We stayed in a nice lodge for 2 nights. Since we arrived at the lodge before 3 PM, we were able to do an optional sunset game drive provided by the lodge. On this drive, we saw a pride of lions, with at least 12 members. The next morning, on the morning game drive, we also saw many animals. And after a long chase, we even saw a leopard eating a impala on a tree. Our 4X4 was parked right below the tree. The sunset cruise also was productive. The drive to Victoria Falls was short. The hotel we stayed was about a 20 minute walk to the falls. Given the hot weather, it was best to take a $10 taxi ride. The hotel room was not as good as the previous ones.Show more

Just an absolutely amazing experience that encapsulated so much of what makes Africa such a wonderful place to visit. The tour was wonderfully put together, the camping aspect was such a unique experience and I'll be talking about my time there for years. Anyone who is on the fence, it really is a must do! Great knowledge from our driver and chef on the trip (wonderful food!) and was so fantastic seeing highlight after highlight with such a top group. The best way to do Africa!!!Show more

My friends and I went on the Vic Falls to Joburg 12 day tour at the beginning of December 2017 and had a blast. We had 13 in our group and had Frans, Clive and Will as our ATC staff (local tour company that operates the actual tour). Everyone in our group had a good sense of humour and everyone was patient and helpful whether it be washing dishes to helping each other put up and take down tents. It was “in tents” as Will would say. I felt safe the entire trip. The driving was smooth and timely. The meals were good but a variety of options catered to our group would have been nice - like more fruit options or a change in breakfast and lunch options. Too many meals of stroganoff, rice with spam, beans and cheese and sandwiches in such a short period of time for my liking. More ethnic dishes catered to African cuisine would have been wonderful. Will our guide was very knowledgeable and made an effort to make sure he got to know everyone. The campsites we stayed at were all well-kept and featured volleyball courts (3 locations), wifi, swimming pools & clean toilets and showers with options to upgrade at every location. I found the only time we had to do souvenir shopping at markets was only at the beginning in Vic falls. I wish we had more opportunities to interact with locals or stop at locations that give back to the community for our pitstops. I would definitely recommend this tour to my friends. I hopefully will return to Africa one day.Show more

  South Africa is a year round destination, but the peak season for game viewing is during the winter months from May - September, when temperatures are cooler and there is less rainfall.
