Is the age cutoff at 39? I'm 58 and do solo trips regularly. Can i join this trip? Also: 1. Are female only dorms available? 2. Does this tour do the Arthur's Pass + Transalpine train route? 3. What time does the tour begin and end in CCH?

Our Adventure Tours are designed for travellers aged 18–39, so unfortunately we wouldn't be able to book you onto that tour. However, we'd love to have you join one of our Premium Tours, which have no upper age limit and are very popular with solo travellers. The typical age range is from the mid-30s through to 70+, and they offer the same fantastic destinations with more comfortable accommodation and a slightly more relaxed pace - We have our South Island Pioneer tour which include the Tranz Alpine train alternatively if you were looking at a longer tour we have out 14 Day Ultimate South tour.

Do you have a tour between Nov 14 and 21 for south island?

    • Wild KiwiOperatorWritten July 2026

We have our South Island escape tour 7 days departing Christchurch on the 14th November - 20th November. Would this be of interest? It is a very similar itinerary to the Southern Voyager tour.

    Asked on June 11th, 2026

is there an option to book this package and only travel with you guys for the first 4 days? as we are heading to another part of NZ to visit our friends. if yes, day 4 at Queenstown, how do we take the intercity bus to Dunedin? and how do we upgrade to the private room (example) at additional cost of $150/night?

    • Wild KiwiOperatorWritten June 2026

For travelling with us for only the first 4 days you are able to leave the tour in Queesntown. Can you confirm if this would be on the Wednesday morning (the day we travel from Queenstown - Franz Josef).

For the Saturday 29 August 2026 departure, we can look at adding a private room upgrade if you would prefer your own room. Private room upgrades are NZD $150 per room per night, and ensuite bathrooms are not guaranteed.

For travelling from Queenstown to Dunedin, InterCity is usually the easiest option. You can book directly through the InterCity website, selecting Queenstown as your departure point and Dunedin as your destination. The offer a daily direct service to Dunedin.

      TravelerWritten March 2026

What time does the tour depart and where is the meeting point? What time do we arrive back in Christchurch?

    • Wild KiwiOperatorWritten March 2026

The tour includes a couple of walks along with plenty of stunning scenic stops throughout the journey. Your guide will also share information on available hikes at each overnight stop, so if you're keen to explore some of the local trails at your own pace, there will be plenty of opportunities to do so!

    • Wild KiwiOperatorWritten March 2026

Our April departures currently have around 6-8 guests booked, with 2-3 of those in the 18-22 age range across all departure. We expect numbers to grow over the next couple of weeks as we get closer to departure. For May, bookings are still in the early stages with 2-3 guests so far, as it falls into our shoulder season which tends to be a little quieter.

    • Wild KiwiOperatorWritten March 2026

The tour departs at 9:00am on the Saturday of your chosen departure date from Lylo Hostel, which is just a short 10-minute walk from Christchurch Airport. On the final day, you'll arrive back into Christchurch at approximately 4:00pm. We're happy to drop you directly at the airport if you have an evening flight, or back at Lylo Hostel if you're spending an extra night in the city.

Your adventure begins in Christchurch on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at Lylo Christchurch. The property is located an easy 10-minute walk from the Christchurch International Airport. Your tour will finish in Christchurch on Friday at around 4:00 p.m. We can drop you off Christchurch airport or to Lylos Hostel. Unfortunately private rooms are fully booked for this departure date. We only have spot left in shared dorm style accommodation throughout the tour.

    • Wild KiwiOperatorWritten March 2026

We release unoccupied dorm beds two weeks prior to a tour's departure. If you are still interested in joining the tour there is a strong chance that we won't be able to get you in a dorm with your fellow travellers. If you are happy sharing a dorm with people outside of the group, we can request the hostel availability and hopefully secure you a spot!
