- SWSally· January 3rd, 2024My tour was beyond what I had hoped. The tour guide and our driver were absolutely perfectly balanced. We often got to the excursion sites before other tour groupes which was hugely beneficial. We fitted in so much in just a few days and loved ever-minute.., my first solo trip was an epic success and a great mixture of others too. I even made friends with a few fellow travelers and hoping to book to come again. Watch this space and thank you for organising a trip so well. Happy New year to the team 😊Show more

Unbelievable sites with great information given constantly. Can’t imagine you could have so much fun The guide and driver made it so wonderful I was worried because my husband has a walker for mobility but they helped at every turn.Show more

We didn’t see the northern lights however what we did see was just as magical. I can’t recommend Gj Travel and Auguste our tour guide more.Show more

Cathy· January 9th, 2023The tour packed a lot in and altho only 3 full days of site seeing it felt a lot longer. We saw some amazing waterfalls, geysirs, the blue lagoon and stunning scenery and got interesting commentary along the way from our lovely guide. Unfortunately we didn't get to go to Vik and the black lava beach due to bad weather conditions and closed roads however the guide found alternative things for us to see instead. Spending NYE in a small town surrounded by all the fireworks and bonfires was amazing and the cabins on Arhus were in a great location, where we managed to see the lights HOWEVER I hope they don't use this accommodation again as there was no one in reception and some of the group had no power, lights or heating! GJ Travel were great in getting up all upgraded the next night to the hotel for free. The itinerary says that on 2 nights we were going to get presentations on the northern lights and a guided tour with midnight refreshments and the accommodation in arhus could also give wake up calls to see them. However there wasn't anyone working at the cottages and it was a case of just go outside to see them and a printed out fact sheet, which was pretty poorShow more
GJ Travel commented on this reviewThank you very much for your detailed review. We are always looking for ways to improve our tours so your feedback is much appreciated. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour overall. All the best from Iceland, Team GJ Travel.Trip date: December 2022- LGLisa· January 3rd, 2023There were a few hiccups along the way due to weather that was out of GJ's and our tour guide's control. When roads were closed, August, our tour guide, found something else for us to do until roads were reopened and we could continue on with the best of our itinerary. We did not miss any of the important must see's. If Arhus Cabins are on your hotel itinerary, RUN, don't walk. I don't blame GJ travel for what happened, who knew owners and managers could be so irresponsible as to not be available when a large group is coming. There was no one on site to help us find cabins, no paths so we were trudging in snow in poorly lit areas. We came back from dinner and there was no heat or electricity. I gathered my things and went to the hotel where our tour guide was staying while others stayed in the cabins and suffered for an evening. (NY doesn't play that, I was not suffering 1 minute.) This was a nightmare that GJ travel made good, after they learned of what happened from the numerous calls they received from our tour guide and a few travel agents. They upgraded all of us to stay at the better hotel, Stracta Hotel, for NYE. We had a wonderful time. If GJ continues to use Arhus Cabins, then it is on GJ travel and I would imagine, that dump will bring their future ratings down. (I am watching because I want to take more tours with GJ but if they continue using this kind of thoughtless, uncaring type of accommodation, I will lose faith and have no desire to take chances with their tours.) Iceland is a beautiful country. I would go back again but this time in Fall so I still get Aurora but no snow and ice. There was a lot more snow and ice, and trudging through it, than I expected. LOL It was wonderful, gorgeous and I am so happy to have been there for NYE, a bucket list trip. I look forward to many more tours with GJ. They did right by us, our tour guide, August and our driver, Pietro were wonderful. August was a wealth of knowledge, he was able to make immediate changes to our itinerary to "save the day" when roads were closed due to weather, and he was pretty funny, charming, and an absolute delight. The roads were pretty bad because of snow and ice and I never, not for one second, felt unsafe in Pietro's very capable hands. Thank you GJ, August and Pietro. Looking forward to more travels with GJ.Show more

Asked on October 5th, 2023Are family rooms available at all on this tour and how much 'fun' would it be for an 8 & 10 year old?
GJ TravelOperator•Written October 2023We unfortunately do not have any family rooms for the tour. If you are interested in booking the tour you would need to book two rooms. We can always request to have rooms close to each other. An 8 year old and a 10 year old could have some fun experiencing something different. There is a bonfire on New Year's Eve, seeing the fireworks. The sites you are going to see are some of the most popular sights in Iceland. This would be a great tour for you!
