It was a great trip but the previous rains prevented us from doing some activities that we were planning to do.

New Zealand is the shining star of this trip. Stunningly beautiful. Chilly in late October but not over run by tourists at that time of spring either. There was a great variety of outdoor activities. Camp dinners were excellent.

Recently completed Southern Blast tour. Overall was good experience and enjoyed getting to know other travellers from all other world. Alot gets packed into the tour which is good but can be tiring on longer trips especially as you are camping all the time. The food is cooked by fellow travellers on rota system. It is delicious healthy home cooked food. The group who cook the meal are served food first as they also clean dishes afterwards. Best to get in line early as food portions are much smaller if near end of line. Generally one large portion and that's it except for salad which there is always plenty. Also dinner is typically served late around 8:30-9pm. Lunches are fairly unimaginative- two small bread rolls with choice of filling. Tents are small so best to get a single. Also buy ear plugs otherwise you won't get much sleep. The guides on our tour was friendly but sometimes seemed a bit disorganised in terms of times and new people joining. I joined a tour partway and found would be better to join at start. You introduce yourself to group as you go. Joining partway means the group is fairly established, people sit in same seats most of time and you get whatever seat is left. The driver was great and took alot of care helping with tents, bikes and general tour questions.

Thanks for your feedback Alyse. We are sorry to see the trip wasnt a 5 star experience for you but we really value your comments. We would always love to have more time in each location but its a careful balance between seeing a lot and not rushing -... Show more
