Show moreTrip date: December 2024- SWSteven· June 17th, 2024This experience was awesome! The itinerary was mostly kept, we were kept informed if there were adjustments. The only real issue was a minor one when refueling required took longer than expected on Day 8, so we had a bit less time in the touristy city of Santa Cruz... which I didn't mind (saved a bit of money). We saw every animal we came to see and much more. We snorkeled with sharks, sea lions and stingrays! Our guide (Jacinto) was excellent, even helping my wife with snorkeling, as she was a bit reticent at first. My only suggestion is to bring a lot of cash. They don't take credit cards on board for expenses (drinks, wetsuits, etc.).Show more

Intrepid Travel commented on this reviewThank you for sharing your experience. We hope to welcome you back on another of our adventures soon.Trip date: June 2023Review collected by Intrepid Travel - KKaeleigh· April 2nd, 2018I booked Intrepid's 'Ultimate Galapagos' tour and went in 2017. Whilst the tour was great, it was somewhat blighted by the aircon in our room on the boat being broken, meaning our room smelt so strongly we couldn't keep the door closed for long periods of time and woke up to an unpleasant stench every morning (we had to close the door to sleep). We also woke up to dripping wet walls and soggy belonging as it leaked a lot. We flagged this when we got on the boat as the smell was unmissable, the crew (who were lovely) advised this was an issue with the room that couldn't be fixed during our stay unfortunately as it needed to be taken to another island. So we made the best of it, constantly hung our clothes off the back of the boat to dry them to wear the next day, and kept our door open as much as possible, as there was no alternative. When I got back I naturally picked this up with Intrepid, being disappointed that this was a known issue not flagged or fixed before our stay, on the holiday of a lifetime. Especially given we'd paid more for a top deck room, which turned out to be far worse than the cheaper rooms on the lower deck (which didn't have broken aircon). Intrepid offered a 15% discount if I booked with them again, given they are constantly promoting discounts this isn't helpful. Plus given the experience I had with them, there was no way I was going to consider booking my next holiday (for my 30th) with them, and risking another subpar experience (compared to the other guests and advertised trip) just for a discount. I suspect I was just unlucky, and the Galapagos itself was amazing, but it was very annoying having wet belongings and a very unpleasant smelling room for the whole 8 days, and I'd have expected them to handle it better on such an expensive tour. Overall disappointed with Interpid's customer service.Show more

I loved it so much I'm considering going back next year! all pre and post hotel and transfers included made it super easy, they even gave us a bag to pack only the essentials for the trip, and could leave our excess luggage at the hotels. the food provided by the cook (there were 7 crew members) was so healthy and delicious, and plentiful. can't recommend this trip enough./Show moreTrip date: September 2015

Asked on July 24th, 2025We are looking for a tour to Galapagos and are evaluating to book. Are wet suits included in the fee? Or should we bring our own wet suits (I need XL)? What would be an estimated cost for drinks and wet suits (on average)?
Intrepid TravelOperator•Written July 2025Wetsuit hire is not included but available onboard (no need to bring your own unless preferred). Cost will be around USD 50. XL sizes are generally available. Drinks onboard are paid in cash (USD only). Expect to pay: Wine: USD 30–40 (bottle only), Cocktails/spirits: USD 6–10, Beer/soft drinks: USD 2–5. A 10% service charge and 12% tax will be added to bar tabs. We recommend bringing at least USD 100 in cash for onboard expenses. The boat doesn't have credit card facilities.

Asked on January 31st, 2022I have a folding mini electric scooter (30 pounds) that I travel with. I use it when there is extensive walking(5+ miles). When folded it measures 30 inches length, 18 inches wide, 12 inches depth. Will I be able to store this on the boat?
Intrepid TravelOperator•Written February 2022The major concern that I have is the different landings that are included on this trip. For getting to small islets, coves and prime snorkelling spots, it is sometimes necessary to use a Zodiac boat (panga). You will need to be comfortable climbing in and out of one during wet and dry landings and you would need to haul the scooter off and on the zodiac. In addition, while exploring the islands there will very rarely be flat pathways or paved roads, so I don't think that it would be comfortable navigating the bumpy terrain on the scooter.

Traveler•Written February 2022I can climb in kayaks and rafts etc. I just need to store my scooter somewhere. I do not need it on the adventure. Also how often will we be able to connect to charging batteries?
Intrepid TravelOperator•Written February 2022Power onboard should be uninterrupted if you need to charge items, but can you please clarify what you mean? Will this be to charge the scooter?

Sally
Traveler•Written February 2022I read through the details of the trip. I just need to leave the scooter wherever I leave my personal belongings(suitcase). I would not take it on the zodiac etc. I only need it for international travel.
Intrepid TravelOperator•Written February 2022Yes there will be power when needed to charge your phone. A solar charger is also great to bring in case you need additional charging when out for the day on excursions.
