Yes, the whole trip will be guided.

do you have a suggested fitness test to pass before booking? I'm 65 and have some difficulty trekking above very roughly 4-4,500m (although I've walked for a few hours around OK around 5,000 when unladen). In the last six months, I easily completed the Overland Trek (and side trips up mountains along the way), in Tasmania in Australia, but found parts of the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu in Peru rather challenging.

This Adventure travels to high altitude. This is medically defined as anything over 8,000 feet (2,440 meters). Most people can travel to 8,000 feet with minimal effects. However, everyone reacts to altitude differently and altitude sickness can on set with some people irrespective of fitness and age. For details on how to best prepare and what to do in the unlikely event you are effected on your Adventure, please consult your physician. This trip is rated Physical Grade 5 and is a backpacking trekking trip from start to finish. Passengers are required to carry their own packs and there are no support vehicles.

You need a sleeping bag liner or sleep sheet, as some refuges provide beds in shared dormitory settings.

I am looking for a trip to Switzerland, France and Spain in December. I prefer travelling by train only. I am looking at approx 1.5 - 2 weeks vacation for 2 people. My approx travel dates are from 23 December. But you are free to change the dates if you are getting a cheaper rate. If possible in Switzerland please include some scenic trains like Glacier express/Bernina express. If you are including Bernina express then maybe you can include Switzerland and Italy in the itinerary and exclude France & Spain. Hotels also please include close to train stations so that you would not need to include any transfers. My approx budget per person is C$2500.

We had a fantastic trip with Denis. The only complaint we would have was with the hotel check in process at the end of our tour. There were rooms available that were given to other people who arrived two hours after we did, while we had to wait in the lobby. This could easily have been avoided if the staff had just assigned us a room that was ready when we arrived. The other rooms would’ve been available upon their arrival. It was very frustrating to sit and wait and be told our room wasn’t ready while at least six other rooms were available and given to guests who arrived much later than us.Show more

It would be nice if there were daily elevation gain and loss on the itinerary. Sleeping with a group of six or more strangers was a challenge. There were people in my room that were very ill. I started feeling ill my last day. I came home and was very sick for days after the trip.Show more
