Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Collpapampa
Early pickup happens at 2:30 a.m. from Cusco, so you'll head to Soraypampa while it's still dark. After breakfast, the real work starts with the 7 Serpents Trail climbing up to Salkantay Pass at 4,630 meters, where you're surrounded by mountains and glaciers the whole way. It's challenging terrain and you'll feel the altitude, but the views make it worthwhile. Lunch comes in Wayracmachay, then the landscape shifts as you descend into the Amazon rainforest where the temperature picks up noticeably. By evening you reach Mountain Sky View camp in Collpapampa and can rest those tired legs.

- Day 2
Collpapampa to Aguas Calientes
You'll wake up to forest sounds and have a homemade breakfast to fuel the day. The hike takes you through Santa Teresa Valley where you'll pass waterfalls, orchids, and coffee plantations along the way. Lunch happens at La Playa with local products, and they'll show you how coffee gets made there. After that you head to Hidroeléctrica and walk along the Urubamba River through tropical jungle, the path getting more humid as you go. You arrive in Aguas Calientes by evening, settle in for dinner, and get a good night's sleep before the big day tomorrow.

Aguas Calientes to Cusco
Start with a light breakfast, then take the bus heading toward Machu Picchu early in the morning. You'll move through mist-filled cloud forest as the elevation increases, which can feel magical but also moves pretty slowly. Once there, a two-hour guided tour takes you through the Inca citadel where you explore temples, terraces, and sacred sites with someone who knows the history well. Lunch happens in Aguas Calientes, and then you board the panoramic train to Ollantaytambo where you can see the mountain scenery from the train windows. Private transport takes you back to Cusco after that, and you'll see some great views on the drive home.
