- Day 1
Salzburg
You'll arrive at your hotel in Salzburg and have the afternoon and evening to get settled in. This baroque city is worth walking around on foot, so take some time to wander through the old town at your own pace. The architecture here reflects Mozart's birthplace heritage, and there's plenty to see just by strolling the streets.

- Day 2
Salzburg to Golling
Start cycling out of Salzburg with Hohensalzburg Fortress visible ahead. You'll follow the Salzach river for about 35 km on a scenic route that passes Hellbrunn Palace, where the famous trick fountains have been entertaining visitors for over 400 years. It's a nice day on the bike with good views the whole way.

Golling to St. Johann
Continue on the Tauern Cycle Path toward Hallein, a town known for its crooked houses and salt mining history. During this 35 km ride, you'll pass the Golling waterfall, which makes for a good spot to take a break and stretch your legs.

St. Johann to Bad Gastein - Mallnitz
This 55 km day is longer, but much of it involves a train ride. You'll cycle through the Gastein Valley with the Hohe Tauern mountains framing everything around you. After passing Bad Hofgastein, you'll reach Bad Gastein, known as the 'Montecarlo of the Alps' for its grand Belle Époque hotels and the 17-spring-fed waterfall there. From Böckstein, you'll board a train to go through the Tauernschleuse tunnel, then cycle downhill to your accommodation.

Bad Gastein - Mallnitz to Spittal a.d. Drau
Cycle along the River Möll on the Glockner Cycle Path, which is mostly downhill through high mountain landscape. You'll travel about 40 km passing through Hohe Tauern National Park to Möllbrück, then follow the Drau cycle path to Spittal. There's a beautiful Renaissance castle called Porcia worth seeing once you arrive.

Villach to Tarvisio - Camporosso
Leave Austria behind as you follow the River Gail out of Villach and into Italy. You'll cycle through the Canal Valley for about 40 km, a unique region where Italian, Austrian, and Slovenian borders converge. Germanic, Romanic, and Slavic cultures blend here, and the Friulian Alpine region offers pristine natural beauty with extensive forests throughout.

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta dominates the town and is worth a visit. Rolling hills covered in vineyards line your route, with opportunities to stop for tastings. Later, pass through Udine, a city with Venetian influences where late Gothic and Renaissance buildings surround you. Grab a coffee at a café on the Piazza or walk through the city centre to get a feel for the place.
