I would like to know how strenuous this trip is having no idea of the terrain or what the tracks are like when days involve ascents of over 1000m; I'm 82 yrs old and walk regularly with a hiking group in mountains and National Parks but a bit slow on uphills and wouldn't like to hold a group back. Have any other very senior clients done this walk?

An excellent overall experience. At times the departure times and arrival times were seemingly better suited to the operator than the tourists ... it is what it is. To literally stand at the site that ignited WW1 is, in itself, difficult to comprehend. But .... it is reality. Then .... turn your back and you see bullet holes in buildings from the tragic times the Balkans experienced. Then .... walk by a Mosque, a Church (OK lots of Churches), a synagogue, and a temple .... then I realized there is no security at these sites. Why? No need - wow. All faiths are safe to 'live their lives'. In many cases history repeats itself .... the Balkans figured it out - that being, we can all live in peace. Sarajevo, if you allow it and do some research on the history will change your life. It changed mine - Google seize of Sarajevo. In the many museums I cried and laughed simultaneously. Horrendous what those people (in recent history) went through .... while the UN 'observed' ... nuf said. Hotels were good. Breakfast reasonable. Recommended restaurants all had 'tourist' prices - read what you wish into that. Personal safety never an issue, (that includes single females) - yes, I speak for the 10 of us while I travel solo. My tour started in Budapest then ..... left. I found that odd!!!!! I strongly suggest if this is the case - arrive in Budapest about 2 days prior and look around. Google day tours Budapest ..... another provider ... thus, I give no link. You will go between a few currencies on this trip. Annoying .... not really. What I do is leave some as a tip when leaving that area and/or pool it all together and leave the guide that amount. Overall I recommend it.Show more
