- Day 1
Florence
You'll arrive in Tuscany and head straight into Florence to see what makes it such a major art center. Start by checking out the Basilica of Santa Croce, then walk over to Palazzo Vecchio and see Michelangelo's David replica in Piazza della Signoria. The Uffizi Gallery is next on your list if you want to spend time with the paintings and sculptures there. Wander through the streets for a bit, grab a coffee at Piazza della Repubblica, and then make your way to your hotel in the Montecatini area.

- Day 2
Pisa - Lucca
After breakfast at your hotel, you're heading out on a day trip to both Pisa and Lucca. In Pisa, you'll see the Leaning Tower and walk around the Square of Miracles where you'll find the cathedral, baptistery, and cemetery. From there it's about 106 km to Lucca. Once you arrive, climb the Guinigi Tower and Clock Tower for views across the Tuscan rooftops, walk through the piazza of the amphitheater, and check out the church of San Michele in Foro before heading back.

- Day 3
Livorno - Corsica (Ajaccio)
You'll have breakfast and then travel to Livorno to catch the ferry over to Corsica. The crossing gets you to Bastia where you'll have a quick look at the old town, but you're really heading to Ajaccio after that. Once there, you can explore Corte with its citadel and valley views, check out the mountain forests of the Venachese region, and choose from activities like hiking, the Museum of Anthropology, or a heritage trail. It's about 260 km from Livorno to Ajaccio.

- Day 4
Ajaccio - Calanches of Piana
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll walk through Ajaccio's boulevards and look at the old town with its pastel buildings. Stop by the Maison Bonaparte to see where Napoleon was born and spend time at the Fesch Museum with its European paintings. In the afternoon, drive through Cargèse (a Greek village with two churches) and continue on to Piana, one of France's most beautiful villages. The winding route along the pink granite Calanques overlooking the Gulf of Porto is something you won't forget. There's about 140 km to cover, and you can add Porto, the Scandola reserve, or the mountain village of Evisa if you want more.

- Day 5
Corsica - Sardinia (Tempio Pausania area)
Start with breakfast and then head to Bonifacio, which was founded back in the 9th century. Spend time in the old and upper towns where you get views that stretch out across the landscape. Next is Sartène where you can walk the cobbled alleys of the medieval Santa Anna district with its gray granite houses. Stop at Propriano and see the prehistoric site of Filitosa, then catch the ferry from Bonifacio to Santa Teresa di Gallura in Sardinia (about one hour). After that, drive to your accommodation in the Tempio Pausania area. The total distance is around 148 km.

Alghero - Capo Caccia - Porto Conte
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll drive to Alghero to walk through the historic center and check out the old city walls, Spanish towers, and churches scattered around the area. From the port there, you'll take a boat trip out to the Caves of Nettuno, which is the main highlight for most people. After that, you head to Capo Caccia and the Bay of Porto Conte where you get some really nice panoramic views of the coastline. On the way back, stop at Nuraghe Palmavera to see this historic site before returning to your hotel. Keep in mind the full drive is around 250 km, so you're looking at a fairly full day with a lot of driving time mixed in with the sightseeing.

- Day 7
Stintino - Asinara Island - Alghero
You'll head northwest after breakfast to Stintino, which is about 50 minutes from Alghero and known for La Pelosa beach with white sand and clear water. Check out the Tuna Museum to learn about the local fishing history. Take the ferry to Asinara Island, a national park where you can see albino donkeys, visit bays and beaches, see the sea turtle rescue center, and stop at the Asinara farm that makes soap and cosmetics from donkey milk. After the ferry back to Stintino, stop at the Palmavera nuraghe complex on your way back to Alghero. This Bronze Age site with its connected towers and ancient village is one of Sardinia's most significant archaeological spots. The drive covers about 305 km.

Costa Smeralda - Livorno
After breakfast, you're heading to the Costa Smeralda. Check out Nuraghe La Prisgiona in Arzachena, one of 7,000 Bronze Age round towers found only in Sardinia. Stop at the mountain village of San Pantaleo to take photos and get views of the area. Continue to Baia Sardinia with its nice beaches, then drive the scenic Costa Smeralda route past the emerald-colored bays. Porto Cervo comes next with its shops and marina if you want to walk around the more upscale areas. Drive to Olbia port and board the ferry back to Livorno for an overnight crossing. You'll sleep in a cabin on board. The distance is about 70 km.
