Kathmandu
You'll arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport where an Alpine Club of Himalaya representative meets you. After checking into your hotel, there's a brief orientation covering what to expect on your trek. Later in the evening, you'll have a special welcome dinner with authentic Nepalese cuisine.

Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
Start early with breakfast before heading to the domestic airport for your 30-minute flight to Lukla, the gateway into the Everest region. You'll fly through Himalayan scenery and land at this high-altitude airstrip. After a short break, you begin trekking and descend through woodland trails to Cheplung where you can see sacred Mt. Khumbila, then continue to Phakding for your first night in a teahouse.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Trek through the Khumbu region's dense forest, crossing multiple suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River rapids. You'll pass Benkar where Mt. Thamserku (21,675 feet) comes into view. At Monjo, your permits get checked before you climb toward Namche Bazaar, gaining elevation with views of Everest, Lhotse, Tawache, and other major peaks appearing as you go higher.

Namche Bazaar
This acclimatization day involves small hikes around Namche Bazaar to help your body adjust to the altitude. Hike up to Everest View Hotel for panoramic views with evergreen fir trees and rhododendron forests visible. On the way back, visit Khumjung Monastery which houses what locals believe is a Yeti scalp. Stop by the Tourist Visitor Center near Sagarmatha National Park headquarters to learn about early Everest climbers, Sherpa culture, and local wildlife.

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
Trek across relatively flat terrain toward Phunki Thanga through rhododendron, cider, and pine forests. You'll see mani walls and chortens marking the start of Tengboche village. Once settled, visit Tengboche Monastery, the largest in the Khumbu region. Located within Sagarmatha National Park, it offers panoramic views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, and Lhotse. Listen to monks chanting sacred texts and performing rituals.

Landmarks Tengboche Monastery Ama Dablam - Day 6
Tengboche to Dingboche
Start downhill through lush woodlands with birch, conifers, and rhododendron trees, then ascend with views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. The trail descends toward Debouche, crosses the Imja River, and heads to Pangboche where you can explore Pangboche Monastery. Continue through upper Pangboche for pristine Himalayan views, follow the Lobuche River along Imja Valley, then climb uphill to reach Dingboche with its chortens and prayer flags.

Dingboche to Chhukung
Trek along stone-walled fields and Imja Khola valley trails into glacier moraines surrounded by towering peaks. Pass through Bibre, a high alpine pasture with views of Ama Dablam and Amphu Labsa, then cross pathways intersected by icy streams to reach Chhukung. After lunch, climb non-technical Chhukung Ri (though altitude may challenge some). The summit offers grand views across the valley and fantastic views of Ama Dablam and Amphu Labcha. Take frequent rests before returning to Chhukung.

Chhukung to Lobuche
Start before dawn for early breakfast before crossing the high mountain pass, the trek's highest point. You have two options: trek northwest over Nuptse Glacier moraines or walk back to Bibre and trek above Niyang Khola (ask your guides for advice). The summit features cairns and colorful Buddhist prayer flags with grand views. After a brief rest, descend through moraine, turn north through Khumbu Glacier, and reach Lobuche. Note: Kongma La pass is optional if you prefer going directly to Lobuche.

Lobuche to Dzongla
Trek downhill alongside Khumbu Glacier, being cautious in this area, and take the trail to the right where the path splits. You'll see grand views of Awi Peak and pass stupas and tombstones at a distance. Begin ascending as you witness Chola Tsho Lake views while gaining altitude. Pass another smaller lake and cross Chola Khola on a bridge before reaching Dzongla.

Dzongla to Gokyo Village
Start early to cross the high mountain pass of Cho La. Follow an ascending route with views of Cho La Lake, Mt. Ama Dablam, Cholatse, and endless mountain peaks toward the summit. Traverse across loose rocks and boulders, taking extra caution around a crevasse on the final climb. The summit has prayer flags and cairns with grand views of the landscape, rivers, Himalayan giants, glaciers, and icefalls. Descend to Thangnak, traverse to Ngozumpa Glacier's edge (Nepal's longest), then reach Gokyo Village by the third Gokyo Lake. Rest and stroll along the lake banks.

Gokyo Village
Climb Gokyo Ri for incredible mountain vistas. The climb is non-technical but altitude may challenge some, so go slow with frequent rests. From the summit, see Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and endless mountain peaks, glaciers, icefalls, and lakes. Descend and explore the fourth Gokyo Lake, 3 kilometers north of the village. Continue trekking toward the fifth lake and visit Scoundrel's Viewpoint at its edge where Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, and the huge Ngozumba Glacier are all visible. Return to Gokyo.

Gokyo to Marlung
Your longest trek day starts early crossing the high mountain pass of Renjo La. Trek across arid landscape following Dudh Pokhari's banks, a lake sacred to Buddhists and Hindus. After a couple hours, reach Renjo La's base and ascend, witnessing grand views as you gain altitude. At the summit, see the greater Himalayan range including Mt. Everest, Rolwaling range, third Gokyo Lake, and Gokyo Village beneath Ngozumpa Glacier. Descend carefully via winding stone staircases to Angladumba Tsho Lake's south bank. Pass Relama Tsho and Renjo Lake, trek through a narrow glacier-filled valley to Lumde, then walk one more hour to Marlung on Bhote Koshi River's east bank.

Marlung to Namche Bazaar
Follow the ancient trading route between Tibet and Nepal, crossing Bhote Koshi River and descending through Taranga toward Thame. Gradually descend through small villages before reaching Namche Bazaar. Settle into accommodation, then head out to explore the region where you'll find various pubs and restaurants to check out.

Landmarks Thame - Day 14
Namche Bazaar to Lukla
Today's trek is entirely downhill. Cross several bridges over the fast-flowing Dudh Koshi River and its tributaries while walking through open plains, rhododendron and pine forests. You'll get distant views of snow-covered peaks passing through several villages. Upon reaching Lukla, rest for a while. Later celebrate your trekking success and spend your last night in the mountains with your team, marking the end of an incredible journey.

Lukla to Kathmandu
Catch a morning flight back to Kathmandu (flights usually scheduled early for safety reasons). After arriving in Kathmandu, head to your accommodation and rest. You have the option to take a guided tour of the city or explore on your own. In the evening, attend a farewell dinner to celebrate completing your trek.

Kathmandu Departure
