Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Ushuaia

    You'll arrive in Ushuaia at the southern tip of Argentina and have time to explore the town on your own. The waterfront along the Beagle Channel is worth checking out, and if you're interested in a longer excursion, Tierra del Fuego National Park makes for a full day trip. Before the welcome meeting at your hotel, try some local handcrafted chocolate that the area is known for.

  2. Day 2

    Ushuaia to Beagle Channel

    This afternoon you'll board your expedition ship and start cruising the Beagle Channel, heading south through the Tierra del Fuego archipelago. You'll get settled into your cabin as you sail away from Argentina toward Antarctica. It's your first taste of what the ship experience will be like over the coming weeks.

  3. Day 3

    At Sea

    You have the full day to relax at sea with access to all the ship's amenities. There's a spa and pool if you want to unwind, and you can watch for ice floes from the sundeck. Look out for albatrosses and marine mammals, and attend expert lectures about the local geography, environment and wildlife in the region.

    Falkland Islands

    The Falkland Islands come into view and you'll explore this wildlife haven with its capital Stanley. You'll see the world's largest Black-browed albatross colony and encounter five penguin species including Gentoo, Magellanic, King and Rockhopper penguins. Visits to Saunders Island and The Neck put you among diverse seabirds and incredible animal encounters.

    Sailing to South Georgia

    Sailing southeast toward South Georgia, you'll cross the Antarctic Convergence and officially enter Antarctic waters. From the outer decks you can scan for seabirds and marine life. Expert presentations cover the area's dramatic history and wildlife, and you'll have chances to connect with other passengers on the voyage.

    You'll arrive at South Georgia where dark volcanic beaches meet hanging glaciers. King penguins nest among tussock grass here, and this protected area has a rich history tied to whalers and explorers. You can visit Grytviken settlement to see Sir Ernest Shackleton's grave, the whaling station museum and church. Fur seals and elephant seals populate the coastline along with large colonies of king penguins.

Chinstrap, Adelie and Gentoo penguins live here, along with Weddell, fur, crabeater and leopard seals.
