Is there an alternative for the day on the Altipiano in case someone suffers from altitude sickness? At which altitude do we sleep?

The Altiplano section (Days 3–4) is a key part of the itinerary and there is unfortunately no alternative route provided within the tour if someone is unable to continue due to altitude. During these days, the group travels together by 4WD through remote areas, so it is not possible to separate from the group or arrange a lower-altitude alternative. In terms of altitude, La Paz is already at around 3500 m, Uyuni is about 3656 m, and on Day 4 the journey reaches approximately 4900 m. The overnight stays during the Altiplano tour are generally around 3600–4300 m.

I am interested in this tour but I am wondering how strict the age is. I am 50 years old and the tour description is up to 35.

This particular experience is age-restricted to 18–35 years, mainly because it's designed around grouping travelers within a similar age range to ensure everyone feels comfortable and can easily connect with one another. Unfortunately, we're unable to make exceptions for this tour, but we do offer other experiences that are more flexible with age and would be lovely options for you.

Payment information
- For any tour departing before October 30th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after October 30th, 2026, a minimum payment of $400 is required to confirm your booking with Intrepid Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
