I have some questions regarding Africa Safari tours with G Adventures. I saw some different tours offered and not sure what's the best option. I am interested in Victoria Falls. Between Kruger and Serengeti I'm not sure which one is better. I believe Serengeti is all off road driving? For Kruger National Park, will the game drives be on road or off road or mixture of both? What kind of vehicles? Do we get to see animals up close? How are the road conditions? Would it be an issue for someone with some motion sickness? For accommodations that are camping, can you describe what it is? Is it sleeping bags and tents or have some type of beds? Do we have to bring our own sleeping bags?

All of our African tours with G Adventures have a private vehicle. Some of our tours use the 'Lando', which is a new type of vehicle that is custom-made, purpose-built overland adventure vehicle gets you where other vehicles can't in a style you won't get anywhere else. It is designed with rider safety and comfort in mind, so will be a great option if you get any motion sickness. Road conditions can run the full gamut from new to being in very poor condition. This style of travel is by no means luxury but it allows us the flexibility of making stops when needed, and reaching some out-of-the way parts in Africa where the traditional safari crowd would not dare to go. We have many different camping styles on our tours, but for the tour you have enquired on there is 11 nights of participation camping. This will require you to assist in the assembly and pack down of your camp. They are sturdy two person tents. We provide the tent and the sleeping pads, but you will need to bring your own sleeping bag and pillow.

I think it was a great option to start the tour at Victoria Falls and finish in Namibia as this way we had the Okavango Delta excursion at the end. Few days leading to this excursion I was super frustrated and also disappointed. Yes, we could pay extra for activities, like river safari and game drive but there were days with nothing to do, nothing to choose from and nothing included in the tour. Or, there were things actually included but we didn't do it! Some days all we did was to wake up early, had breakfast, packed up everything, hit the road and rushed to the next place just to get there and do nothing. Literally nothing. At one place we were told there was a pool, go and enjoy. Really? If I want to sit in a pool, I just stay where I live, I don't need to cross the world for that. What I wanted was to see Africa, how people live, where they live, what they do, and to see that more than looking at them through the bus for like 2 seconds (well, they call it Lando but technically it is a bus). Anyhow. The activities we could pay extra were great. I also wanted to see some African animals, and even though I didn't see everything I wanted, I saw quite a lot during the game drive at Chobe NP. These activities as I mentioned were great but there were days with nothing to chose from or even if it was, it would have cost you a fortune, like the helicopter tour above the Okavango. Having mention the Okavango. The excursion there was great, the absolute highlight of the tour (apart from Victoria Falls but that was also something you had to do on your own). For this excursion only, I gave the 4 stars. I was really thinking of giving just 3 but considering everything, it was an amazing few days thanks to the people I became friends with during the tour. Also, Jerry, our driver, was safe and effective, took as from one place to another with no issue. I just wish we hadn't been rushed all the time!Show more

  I have few more questions regarding Kruger National Park, is it all paved road systems? Do the guided game drives go off road? I think Serengeti National Park is more remote and have unpaved road systems?

  The roads will be marked and treaded upon, but will often be unpaved in most of the National Parks and Game Reserves that we visit. We will be going off road to get the best views of the animals up close.
