You'll arrive in Rome and get settled into your accommodation before connecting with your Travel Director. Later in the evening, you'll meet the other travelers on the tour and head to a local restaurant for dinner featuring Roman specialties and local dishes.

Rome

Rome to Sorrento
You'll leave Rome and drive south through the Italian countryside, passing rolling hills, olive groves, and small villages. As you get closer to Sorrento, the landscape transforms with dramatic coastal cliffs and Mediterranean views coming into sight.

Capri
A jetfoil takes you across bright blue Mediterranean waters to Capri. You'll meet a Local Expert for a walking orientation through narrow alleyways, then choose between visiting the Gardens of Augustus (with views of the Faraglioni rocks) or trying Capri's famous limoncello liqueur at a local tasting.

Alberobello
You can explore Alberobello's unique trulli (circular limestone dwellings with conical roofs built without mortar), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Or, choose to visit the whitewashed town of Ostuni with its winding cobbled streets and North African-influenced architecture instead. In the evening, dinner features traditional Apulian farm-to-table dishes.

Alberobello to Matera
A Local Expert leads you through Matera's Sassi, a UNESCO site with cave dwellings, churches, and staircases carved from solid rock. Later you'll visit the small village of Grottole to meet Andrea, who works preserving traditional ways of life. You'll explore the historic old town and have an aperitif with local snacks that support the community.

You'll travel along the Violet Coast to Italy's toe and take a ferry across the Strait of Messina to Sicily, passing through legendary waters from Greek mythology. After arriving at your hotel on the Taormina Riviera, a Local Expert shows you the Greek Theater of Taormina with its dramatic backdrop, then you'll stroll the elegant Corso Umberto to Piazza IX Aprile. In the evening, you'll choose from specially selected local restaurants for dinner.

Taormina to Palermo
You'll drive to Agrigento and explore the Valley of the Temples with a Local Expert, seeing the impressive Temple of Concordia and the clifftop Temple of Juno overlooking the Sicilian landscape. In the afternoon, you'll continue on to Palermo, Sicily's capital.
