At first I had some qualms about attempting the Tamang Heritage Trail due to my age (74) and as I'd had hip surgery earlier in 2025. Over the years I've done three treks in Nepal and enjoyed them immensely but the last time was more than 30 years ago. Would this be a step too far? TourRadar put me in touch with the tour operator, AlpWander Adventures in Kathmandu, and Ayush assured me it was still possible. Instead of joining a group tour he arranged a customised trek with just three people -- a guide, porter and myself. They were patient in accommodating my slower walking pace so I could enjoy the mountain scenery and hospitality of the Tamang people. We trekked for six days reaching an altitude of 3,200m near the Tibetan border. It was no cakewalk but the soaring peaks, prayer flags and Buddhist shrines we saw are indelibly etched in my memory. If you still have a sense of adventure and are prepared to challenge your boundaries, age is no barrier to doing this trek.Show more

Payment information
- For any tour departing before April 17th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after April 17th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with AlpWander Adventures Pvt. Ltd.. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 35 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
