Itinerary
- Day 1
Johannesburg to Khama Rhino Sanctuary
You'll depart Johannesburg in the early morning and drive through North West Province toward Botswana. The journey takes you across the border at Martins Drift and into the Kalahari plains. By evening you'll arrive at Khama Rhino Sanctuary, where a catered meal awaits along with a briefing from your guide about the days ahead.

Khama Rhino Sanctuary to Maun
An early start gets you into an open vehicle for a game drive through Khama Sanctuary, looking for rhino and other wildlife. After returning to camp for brunch, you'll head northward through remote villages. The route skirts the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans and follows the Boteti River, eventually reaching Drifters Maun Lodge.

Okavango Delta
Catch connecting flights from Maun into the Okavango Delta. Once there, you'll explore this inland ecosystem by mokoro, the traditional canoe, winding through reed-lined channels and visiting uninhabited islands. Local Motswana guides lead the experiences. Back at camp, you can relax on the wooden deck overlooking the lagoon, take walks, swim, or go on a sunset boat cruise.

- Days 5 - 8
Khwai Area Game Reserve
A second flight takes you over the Delta and Moremi National Park to Khwai airstrip. You'll transfer by open Land Cruiser to a tented camp on the Khwai River. Over the next four days, extensive game drives through Khwai, Moremi, and Savuti reserves show you varied habitats from open plains to Mopane woodlands. Local guides navigate the well-equipped vehicles, stopping at hides and waterholes at your pace. Each evening brings you back to camp for meals and rest.

Khwai to Maun
A slower game drive takes you out of the parks back toward Maun. You'll have lunch on your own and get time to explore the town, picking up supplies before heading to Drifters Maun Tented Lodge on the Boteti River. This afternoon you can relax before a catered dinner.

Maun to Makgadikgadi Pans
The morning is relaxed at the lodge along the river or by the pool. If interested, take a local village walk to Chenoga Village with lodge staff. Have an early lunch, then head eastward into the stark white Makgadikgadi Salt Pans under the big sky. You'll continue to Elephant Sands Lodge where close-up sightings of elephants at the water hole are practically guaranteed.

Makgadikgadi to Chobe River to Victoria Falls
Leaving the pans behind, you'll head north to the Chobe River, known for massive elephant herds and other wildlife drawn to drink. An extensive boat cruise within Chobe National Park explores both the Botswana and Namibian sides of the river for close-up wildlife viewing. Later you'll cross into Zimbabwe and make your way to Victoria Falls, centrally located near the falls and local attractions.

- Day 12
Victoria Falls
You'll explore Victoria Falls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, 'The Smoke that Thunders.' Your entry fee is included, so you can spend as much time as you like viewing the falls and the rainforest. Options include visiting the tribal village or curio market. Tonight you'll eat at a local restaurant on your own before settling in to the sounds of the African night.

Victoria Falls to Hwange
Travel a short distance to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe's premier game reserve. The park is known for massive herds of elephant and buffalo, with over 100 mammal species and 400 bird species. This afternoon an open vehicle game drive with local guides gives you intimate knowledge of the area.

- Day 14
Hwange to Matobo
You'll head south to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second largest city recognized for its uniquely wide streets. From there continue to the Matobo area for an afternoon open vehicle drive into Matobo National Park. Then leave the vehicle to track rhino through the bush on foot, an experience most find thrilling and moving. Stay at accommodation high on a granite dome among the balancing boulders of the Matobo Hills.

Matobo to Limpopo
Your final night takes you to a private game reserve in Botswana along the Limpopo River banks. Take a last walk together along the river to absorb the sights and smells of the African bush and catch glimpses of animals living wild. Dinner happens in the bush around a flickering fire.

Landmarks Limpopo River - Day 16
Limpopo to Johannesburg
Cross back into South Africa and follow a scenic route through the Waterberg Mountains before entering Johannesburg, Africa's economic heart. The tour ends when you arrive in the late afternoon.
