Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Tenerife

You'll arrive in Tenerife and pick up your rental car for the week ahead. The drive north along the coast takes you to San Cristóbal de La Laguna, a charming old town where colorful facades line the streets and churches and monasteries dot the historic center. After checking into your accommodation, spend the evening walking around town to get a feel for the local restaurants and find a good spot for dinner. It's a relaxed first day to settle in and shake off travel fatigue.

  2. Day 2

    Teno Mountains and Los Gigantes

Head out early and take the serpentine mountain roads through some dramatic scenery. The drive to Masca in the Teno Mountains shows off volcanic landscapes and steep cliff faces. From there, continue to Los Gigantes where 450-meter-high cliffs rise straight from the sea. Later, you'll head to Playa de los Guíos, a black lava sand beach tucked beneath those cliffs. Bring your swimsuit because you'll want to spend time in the water and just take in the views before heading back.

    Included Activities

    • Drive to Masca mountain village
    • Hike along paved trail to view Los Gigantes cliffs
    • Visit Playa de los Guíos black lava sand beach

  3. Day 3

    Teide National Park

Teide National Park is the main event today. You'll drive through winding forest roads and enter what feels like another planet, with gigantic volcanic rocks and dark lava flows spreading across the landscape. Mount Teide dominates the horizon as you hike through the volcanic terrain and get a sense of the raw power of the island's geology. If you want, stick around for sunset and take a dip in the natural swimming pools at Los Gigantes before heading back to your accommodation.

  4. Day 4

    Ferry to La Gomera

Drive to Los Cristianos and leave your rental car behind as you board the ferry to La Gomera. The crossing takes a couple of hours, and you'll arrive in San Sebastián ready to explore. Check into your accommodation and wander through the charming harbor town with its colorful buildings and quiet plazas where locals sit at cafés. If you're up for it, rent a bike to get around the surrounding area later or tomorrow.

    Included Activities

    • Ferry crossing to La Gomera

    Optional Activities

    • Rent a bike to explore the island (payable locally)

  5. Day 5

    La Gomera Exploration

La Gomera's natural side comes alive today. You can bike up to Alto de Garajonay, the highest point on the island, or book a guided tour if you prefer having someone show you around. Stop at Mirador de los Roques to see the striking rock formations and dense jungle landscape from a vantage point. The lush green vegetation here contrasts nicely with Tenerife's volcanic terrain, so you'll notice the difference in environment right away.

    Optional Activities

    • Bike to Alto de Garajonay (optional, payable locally)

  6. Day 6

    Adeje

Take the ferry back to Tenerife this morning and collect your rental car in Los Cristianos. Drive north to Adeje and check into your beach resort accommodation. After settling in, head straight to the sand and spend the afternoon relaxing. Playa del Duque or the other nearby beaches are perfect for swimming or just lounging. By evening, find a beach bar for a sunset drink and watch the day wind down.

    Beach Day in Adeje

This is your beach day. Playa de Las Américas is a wide sandy beach perfect for sunbathing and swimming in the Atlantic. You'll spend the day reading, soaking up the Tenerife sun, and cooling off in the water whenever you feel like it. Beach bars line the shore, so grab food and drinks whenever hunger hits. After dinner at one of the beachfront spots, stick around for an evening drink and watch the sun dip toward the horizon.

    Included Activities

    Departure from Tenerife

Start your final morning with a cortado at a local café in Adeje. After that last coffee, head to the rental car agency and return your vehicle. You'll leave Tenerife today with memories of volcanic landscapes, charming towns, black sand beaches, and plenty of island time under the sun.

Very well organized, we landed in Dublin at 07:30 and were in our car at 08:30. The hotels were all very well chosen. We were very happy with our trip and can only recommend it to others.

The island hopping was an all-round successful vacation for me, which I would love to repeat. The trip combines the lively, green Madeira with the quiet beach paradise of Porto Santo. I particularly enjoyed the well-organized excursions, such as the jeep safari or the guided hikes. The accommodation was also very pleasant and the transfers between the islands ran smoothly. Overall, this trip is ideal for anyone looking for variety, nature and relaxation - I would recommend it at any time and would book Journaway for other round trips. Top!

I don't even know where to start - we simply had a wonderful time on Crete and Santorini! Above all, this trip had everything you could wish for in a round trip: City tours through Heraklion, Rethymnon and Chania (we personally liked Chania's old town the best), truly fantastic beaches (Balos!!!) and of course Santorini. And all this with a completely smooth organization. Thank you for this great vacation! :)
