How difficult will it be for me if I've never camp before. Will I have to bring camping gears, sleeping bag?

We provide the tents but if you prefer not to share then you are welcome to bring your own. Yes you will need to bring a sleeping bag and mat and 95% of this trip is camping, there may be opportunities at some campsites to pay a little more to upgrade to a bed but you will need to be prepared for plenty of very basic camping including wild/ bush camping with no facilities. They are also participatory trips, and you need to be ready and willing to pitch in and help out. At the beginning of the trip, small cook groups are formed (normally 3-4 people), and these cook groups will be responsible for shopping, and then preparing meals that day. Sometimes this may be just dinner and breakfast, but on long driving days we may make our own truck lunches as well. 65% of meals are included and other meals you will need to budget to pay for yourself, whether these be from street food snacks, local cafes/restaurants, sandwich shops etc. Overall, these are fantastic experiences, and suitable for anyone aged from 18 to 80. You just need to be fit and mobile enough to carry your own luggage for up to around 30 minutes, be fairly self reliant (both emotionally and practically), and ready and willing to join in as part of the team.

I had an absolutely exceptional 287 days on this trip! The trip notes prepared me well for what to expect! At times in was rough, just like the trip notes said it would be! My guide worked her butt off to ensure the trip ran smoothly and could even bake cakes over an open fire! The food was healthy, plentiful and meals were well balanced, however being a picky eater it was sometimes hard for me to "love" the food. ( My fault) We did have changes to our itinerary and some delays however, I genuinely feel that the decisions that were made were for our own safety and that the office was constantly watching out for us! I can't really comment on accommodation... I loved my tent and some campsites/hotels were better than others. I enjoyed bush camping and give that a 5 star rating! Expect the unexpected, go with the flow, prepare to rough it and this trip will change your outlook on the world. Overall, the trip was good value for money but I did need way more money than the trip notes suggest and I bought next to nothing in way of souvenirs. (compared to others). I would recommend this trip to serious adventure travelers but if you'll miss flush toilets it may not be your thing. I'll miss the truck and my truck family tons! Show more

Is it a share tent. I'm willing to learn. Are hotel upgrades at every destination?
