Itinerary
- Day 1
Jackson to Granite Creek
You'll get picked up from your hotel in Jackson and take a 45-minute shuttle to the trailhead where your adventure starts. The hike covers 6 miles with 890 feet of elevation gain, following Granite Creek through forest and open meadows along clear water. Keep your eyes open for moose, elk, deer, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, bears, and wolves throughout the day. After reaching the meadow camp overlooking Granite Creek, you'll settle in for a backcountry dinner cooked over the fire as the long northern sunset gradually fades.

Granite Creek to Turquoise Lake
Today's hike pushes higher into the mountains, covering 8 miles with 1500 feet of elevation gain as Granite Creek leads you into the subalpine zone. You'll walk through subalpine forests and meadows full of wildflowers before arriving at Turquoise Lake, which sits at high altitude. After setting up camp, you have a few hours to explore around the lake, whether that means fishing, photographing the wildflowers, relaxing on the shores, or just soaking in the high altitude sun. Another campfire dinner wraps up your day.

Turquoise Lake (Layover Day)
This is your layover day, so start with a hearty breakfast and hot coffee or tea without rushing. Your guide will suggest several day hike options, or you can simply stay in camp, fish, or spend time relaxing at this location. Many people climb Cache Peak, which sits at 10,384 feet and takes about 4 miles roundtrip from camp, giving you views of the Tetons and surrounding peaks. The rest of the day is yours to fill however suits you best.

Turquoise Lake to Granite Creek
You'll start the descent from the high country back down Granite Creek, hiking 8 miles and losing 1500 feet of elevation today. Coming down gives you a totally different perspective from when you arrived, and you'll see lush valleys carved by ancient rivers and distant peaks across the horizon. Watch for moose and elk on the way down since they're particularly visible during the descent. Once you reach the creek-side camp for the night, celebrate with one final backcountry dinner.

Granite Creek to Jackson
Take your time over a big breakfast and relaxing morning before you break camp. The final hike covers 6 miles back to the trailhead with 891 feet of elevation loss following Granite Creek the whole way. Once you reach the trailhead, your guide loads up the trailers while you soak your tired legs and muscles in Granite Hot Springs, a thermal pool fed by natural hot water. After soaking and getting packed, the shuttle takes you back to Jackson Hole where your trip concludes.
