Itinerary

  1. Day 1

Gold Coast to K'gari (Fraser Island)

You'll head north and board the ferry across the strait to K'gari, a World Heritage site also known as Fraser Island. The ferry ride itself is worth the trip, particularly if you're traveling during whale migration season when you might spot humpbacks in the calm waters. Once you land, you're on the world's largest sand island and the only place where rainforest grows directly from sand, which is pretty remarkable.
