Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Lares Hot Springs to Wacawasi
Your hotel pickup happens at 5:30 a.m., so you'll be heading out early to reach the Lares hot springs. The drive takes roughly 4 hours and takes you through the Sacred Valley, where you'll pass through small villages and see the surrounding landscapes. Once there, you'll have time to relax and swim in the thermal baths before grabbing lunch. After that, you'll trek for about 4 hours to Wacawasi, a small community where you'll camp with local families for the night.

- Day 2
Wacawasi to Patacancha
You'll eat breakfast and continue trekking, and along the way you'll meet local weavers who sell their crafts. The main climb takes you to the Ipsaycocha pass at 4,100 meters (13,450 feet), which gives you views of Veronica mountain towering at 5,750 meters (18,865 feet). Lunch happens up there, and then you'll descend for about an hour and a half to reach Patacancha, your final campsite for dinner.

Patacancha to Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu Town
After breakfast, you'll trek toward Ollantaytambo and pass through several viewpoints that look out over the valley and the towns of Huylloc and Pumamarka. You'll walk past Inca terraces throughout the day. Your chef will have a packed lunch ready for you, and then you'll take the train to Machu Picchu Town. You're staying in basic hostel accommodation there, so don't expect anything fancy.

Machu Picchu Citadel and Return to Cusco
Set your alarm because this morning walk starts very early at about 1.5 hours via the Inca Trail to get to the Machu Picchu control point. Once there, you'll get a guided tour of the citadel that lasts around two hours, and then you'll have free time to wander around and explore this Inca city on your own. Later in the day, you'll take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then drive by car back to Cusco to wrap up the tour.
