We were shocked at the way in which we were put on the spot and coerced to make extra payment by Ms. Salwa, the representative of the tour operator Ancient Egypt Tours. Please treat this as a complaint and a request for the refund of $550.90. In this regard, please see the details below: 1. After reviewing a couple of tours on your portal and also after talking to your agents, Elijia and Andrei, on May 19, 2024 we selected the above tour and made the initial payment. 2. The tour brochure as it appeared on your portal and downloaded at the time of booking, indicated under the heading “What’s Included” and sub-heading “Transport” : All transfers by a private air-conditioned vehicle. Domestic flights: Cairo / Luxor & Luxor / Cairo 3. While making the initial payment on May 19th, I had specifically inquired with your agent Melissa about the travel cost ‘to and from’ Luxor and she too had confirmed that the cost was included. 4. Only and only based on the brochure from your portal and confirmation from your agent, we did the booking and made the initial payment. 5. On 21st of July while in Cairo on the 2nd day of our tour, Ms. Salwa sent a message, demanding that we pay $400 for the flight ‘to and from’ Luxor. 6. I sent her the following messages: Hi Salwa, I had made sure at the time I booked this tour that the flight to and back from Luxor were included. Your original brochure clearly indicated about the inclusion of the flight cost. I have printed stuff at the hotel room, I will send you a copy and also call you later in the day. 7. After reaching the hotel, I sent her the message below with the screen shots of the tour brochure: Hello Salwa I will send you the screenshots of your tour details, based on which I confirmed and paid for the tour. If you see the second screen, it lays down what is included in the tour and over the next 2 screens you/Tour Radar have ticked in 'green' all that is included. Please refer to the last screen where air fare for ‘to and from’ Luxor has been clearly ticked as included. Before making payment, I had called Tour Radar specifically for the issue and they had confirmed that since it is ticked, the Luxor air fare is included. Please check out the document I will send out next. Thanks Deepak Shah 8. Her response to the above was for me to contact Tour Radar and as far as she was concerned, unless $400 was paid, our Luxor tour will be cancelled. Luxor is a significant part of any tour to Egypt. 9. I was put on the spot and had very little choice but to pay under duress. My written response to Ms. Salwa was as per below: Hello Salwa, It seems I do not have much choice. Even within Toronto, calling Tour Radar could get challenging so trying to call them from Egypt without international calling facility and 7 hours of time difference, is impossible. I do not know who is responsible for the misrepresentation, but after spending thousands and coming 5000+ miles we cannot miss going to Luxor. I will have to take up this issue with Tour Radar upon my return to Toronto next week. In the meanwhile please charge my credit card for the ‘to and from’ fare to Luxor. 10. My credit card was charged in an additional unjustified amount of $550.90 on July 22nd so that we could go to Luxor. This is not businesslike. You promise something and then go back on it and demand additional money for the same tour cost which was already paid. We request that you immediately refund the amount of $550.90.   I am very happy with the services provided by Ancient Egypt Tours. Salwa, the tour manager and coordinator, did a superb job organizing several tours for me at very reasonable prices. Our communication started well before my departure for Cairo, Egypt. Not only did Salwa respond to my messages in a prompt manner, but she also read them carefully and answered my questions to the best of her knowledge. When needed, she did additional research and got back to me with her answers. I was not disappointed when I arrived in Cairo, Egypt. She made sure I was safe and well taken care of throughout my whole trip by being in contact with me all the time and flexibly adjusting tours to my interests. She also connected me with several professional guides. I would especially like to give my thanks to Dina, with whom I toured Cairo, and Refaie, with whom I toured Luxor & Karnak. Both are personable and experienced guides, who are passionate about what they are doing and generous in sharing their knowledge with others. Last but not least, I would not have enjoyed my trip as much if Salwa had not found a very friendly and reliable driver for me, whose name is Mohamed (Muhammad) Hamada. He was always on time (no matter how early my tours started) and managed very challenging routes. When his GPS froze because we traveled to remote mountainous areas, he asked local people for directions to get where we needed to get. In addition, he navigated through heavy Cairo traffic so carefully and successfully that I always felt safe as a passenger in his car. To sum up, I would strongly recommend Ancient Egypt Tours because of Salwa’s impeccable managing skills, high professionalism of the staff and tour guides she hires, and reasonable prices the company offers.Show more

  Overall very good service provided by Ancient Egypt Tours. We were picked up on time at Cairo Airport. Communication was excellent. Received responses promptly. Hotel provided was quite good with excellent b/fast (included) and dinner (paid) choices. Guides were good and were quite knowledgeable with good command of English (our preferred mode of communication). The driver had difficulty in conversing in English (quite understandable) so conversation was minimal. Would have preferred to know more about life and culture of Egyptian people but obliviously could not. Location of hotel was only accessible by cab...nothing attractive around - ONE drawbacks need to be pointed out. Car provided for us (we were the only 2 in then group) was older model and seat belts Front passenger and rear seat (one) was not in order. The long drive to Alexandria on the highway without secure seat belts that we are used to in our country, was not very comforting. Suggest that this be addressed. The car that we got in Luxor was a newer model and cleaner car. (we flew to Luxor and were picked up and dropped of at the airport on time - very smooth) Overall would recommend Ancient Egypt Tour for the services we received - No complaints. Thank you.
