  Overall, the tour met my expectations, and the tour company was very good in responding to my messages. The driver, Maru, was prompt in picking me up from the airport and dropping me off for my return flight. He was an excellent driver, but due to his limited English language skills, he could not give me detailed information about Madagascar's history, culture, politics, and people, and so we spent long drives quietly. The city tour of Antsirabe, and Lemur sighting in the Anja Valley and Ranomofana National Park were good. Out of the 3 hotels I stayed on this tour, the Anja Valley Lodge and Hotel Thermal at Ranomofana National Park were very good. Those two hotels had A/C and the food was very good. The Royal Palace Hotel in Antsirabe, where I stayed 2 nights did not have A/C and the food was mediocre at best. If I had a choice, I would not stay at this hotel again. I was aware of the poor road conditions in Madagascar (which neither the tour company nor the driver had any control over), but I am a seasoned traveler and I was able to manage the long and slow drives through pothole-filled roads and other travelers must be aware of this and not be surprised. Overall, I had a good tour and have already recommended it to many of my friends.Show more

  We took the Ranomafana National Park Safari 5 Days/4Nights package offered by Across Africa Tours & Travel via TourRadar online, with the confirmed itinerary returning to Antananarivo airport on the fifth day. Unfortunately, it is simply impossible to implement this itinerary package at all - We were told by the local operator on the morning they came to pick up us that it would take at least 15 hours to cover 390km distance to come back on the fifth day! We had to cut one of the precious two nights in Ranomafana NP in order to get back to Tana airport in time for our afternoon flight as confirmed by the itinerary. That was very disappointing. However, we give 3 stars because we do appreciate that our guide and driver who worked very hard and did their best to be helpful. Our driver was excellent, driving safely and as fast as possible for long hours every day. Our guide tried very hard to overcome the obstacles when a big truck rolled and the traffic was blocked for kilometres on our way to the airport and in the end we managed to catch our flight in time. Considering the current atrocious road conditions in Madagascar, overseas travellers have to be aware of the long hours driving from A to B, in average about 30km/hr or less, and planning their trips accordingly.Show more

  Overall excellent, really pleased to have got to experience a slice of Madagascar. Extremely well looked after from start to finish, clear schedule and guides met me at every step of the way. Guides were excellent and a pleasure to be with, always felt safe. Accommodation was varied in terms of location but always very impressive with excellent food. You will need to survive on bottled water in Madagascar, but this wasn't a problem. Itinerary delivered incredible sights, loveable lemurs and good variety of location. Unfortunately a problem for me was the tour itinerary I booked for included a trip to tsingy de bemaraha which was what I was most looking forward to. This location was far away from the tour so was not practical. As a result this changed to a day of travel to St Marie island, which to my horror started at 3am (no other times or air transfer). With very rough roads and choppy seas I needed to recuperate the previous day which was free time rather than enjoying the many activities that could have been available. Retrospectively would much rather have travelled back to the capitol the way I came. Conclusion: Check the itinerary is as described as well as how many guests are on the tour before booking. But if you want to visit Madagascar, I'd recommend going as an organised tour and this one is great.Show more
