  More activities each night. would be nice. They can do bingo and trivia more than once. There could be a movie night, an hour or so for karaoke, a dance party, and a farewell party that’s not just him singing all show tunes. But, I think they’re going to have to figure out a way to get some air circulating below deck for people to want to spend time in the lobby area. I loved the singers who came on board at one of the stops and performed on the deck. More of that would be good too. Bacon or American style pork sausage at breakfast would’ve been nice. I didn’t recognize some of the meats they served. Maybe some self serve snacks or fruit would be a nice touch each day. Something prepackaged that people can take and go and doesn’t require a lot of cleanup or maintenance. The empty pans on the buffet were not always replaced or might be replaced with something completely different. They definitely had some issues with the rooms not cooling down, esp when the boat was not in motion. I didn’t understand that, esp at night when you want it to be cool while you sleep. We didn’t want to sleep with the balcony doors open-that wasn’t for us. We didn’t think the beds were that comfortable. They might need to be replaced. The cleaning lady said that A-Rosa isn’t big on upgrading and replacing stuff. We also had yellow stains on our duvets, and when we showed them to the cleaning ladies they quickly changed them out. Personally, I thought the brown towels were kind of gross too, but we made do. Different standards, different culture, etc. More excursion options would be nice. And maybe that’s the time they can have activities on the boat while it’s docked. A Normandy D-Day beach excursion should be available. The bar should be open longer/earlier. It is ridiculous that passengers cannot get a mimosa or Bloody Mary with breakfast, or even a soft drink. It would’ve also been nice to have a few more options for wine and beer for the silver card people. Even that 1664 beer from France would have been fantastic instead of all German beer. Turning off the water dispensers at midnight made no sense to me. I'm not sure when they were supposed to be turned back on but sometimes they were not even available at 8AM. The whirlpool hours and sun lounge chairs in that area should have longer available hours. 11AM to 6PM was not sufficient. The seating fiasco needs addressing. A new policy allowing passengers to pay to sit at a table brought chaos on the first night. Tables were either reserved or full once our party of 18 was able to go through the buffet line. If they have room for everyone to eat at the same time, they should just assign seating. We were not allowed to take our food to the lobby tables, the bar, our rooms or to the sun deck tables. At most, there might have been 2 seats available at a table. A family of 4 with 2 children were out of luck. The staff did make arrangements for our party of 18 to sit together for the rest of the cruise but charging 5 Euro per person/per day is maddening. A-Rosa personnel should enforce smoking areas on the upper deck. They should also take drink orders from people at the lounge chairs, not just the umbrella tables. Bike tours should have a leader and follower for each tour so that no bikers are left behind. A-Rosa's web site and mobile app showed 3 separate itineraries for our 7- night cruise. We were told we would have generous notice of embarkation and debarkation changes but we got an email at 7:14AM on the day of our embarkation changing our port city.Show more

  So. I never give horrible reviews however this one is necessary. My family has 16 people who do yearly tours together. This year we had a trip planned for a river cruise to Paris /normandy. My daughter and her family 4 of them paid for their trip. One month before the cruise her son started feeling ill. Repeatedly told it was a virus! Three days before setting off on the trip he became very ill He was diagnosed with leukemia! He is now in the Boston children’s hospital receiving treatment. They were unable to receive a refund from travelers insurance due to him being treated before the travel date. Aroma was so horrible and lacking compassion. Refusing any type of compensation for them. Perhaps travel credits or 50% refund. Something. There were 10 people in our group who went on the trip but we his grandparents and family could not. I did not card that we lost our money. This is a young family who have a tremendous life circumstance facing them. Not one word of compassion from AROSA. Only. We adhere to our policy. The airlines and hotels all refunded our money without hesitation. AROSA was disgustingly this company is horrible. Do not book with them The rest of the family stated the food was mediocre and although excursions were supposed to have English speaking guides they did not. All in German. I will post this daily so people know the horrible lack of empathy they have for their customers and the poor service. Also the family members who went on the trip said all rooms were booked. So the rooms we were supposed to have they were able to rebook so they made money on our horrible circumstance.Show more

  Again, as on our previous cruise the week before, reality fell far short of advertising and the expectations created. This was advertised as language: English German. In fact, on many occasions during the cruise there was little or no English translation. In some ports Maps were available in German but not English. The cruise was in France, but it was German food. These things should have been made clear in advertising. This cruise was down the Seine in Normandy. The boat only went as far as Caudebec (an hours drive to the coast), and gave no excursions or even opportunity to visit the Normandy Beaches at the time of the 80th anniversary of D Day landings.Show more
