In order to prepare the invitation letter and supporting documents correctly, we will need the following information from both travelers: Full names exactly as written in the passports Passport copies Nationalities Dates of birth Planned arrival and departure dates Expected itinerary in Tanzania (Kilimanjaro climb, safari destinations, Zanzibar if applicable, etc.) Intended accommodation or tour arrangements Arrival flight details if already available Normally, it is recommended to confirm or reserve your tour program before we issue the invitation letter, as the documents usually include trip details and travel arrangements within Tanzania. For the referral visa process specifically, approval may take longer than a standard tourist visa, so we strongly advise starting the application process well in advance of your September 2026 departure.

Is it possible to be picked up from Arusha, then continue onto the trek?

Yes, it is absolutely possible to arrange your pick-up from Arusha before starting the trek. Our team can collect you from your hotel or any agreed location in Arusha and transfer you to Moshi, where the trek briefing and final preparations will take place before heading to the mountain gate the following morning. The transfer from Arusha to Moshi is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, and it is a common arrangement for many of our climbers who are staying in Arusha prior to the climb.

What time does the tour start on the first day? And where does it start?

The tour starts at 8:30 AM, Location is Moshi Tanzania from your hotel we will come to pick up you and transfer to the Kilimanjaro starting gate

Can 70+ years old tourists climb Kilimanjaro?

Yes, there are travellers in their 70s and 80s who summit Kilimanjaro every year. However, it is recommended to seek professional medical advice first to ensure the person gets clearance from doctor. If they decide to trek the Kilimanjaro, it is also recommended to take one of the longer routes which provide more time for acclimatization.

Is it common to tip the support staff?

Yes, it is and the recommended tipping amounts are the same no matter what route the hikers choose to do. The tip for the lead guide is usually $20-$25 per day; the tip for assistant guide and the chef is $10-$15 per day and the tip for each porter is $5-$10 per day.

Is any previous experience needed to climb Kilimanjaro?

No, the climb to Mount Kilimanjaro does not require any previous climbing skills. On the Machame, Lemosho, Shira and Umbwe Route there is a section called the Barranco Wall that requires basic bouldering skills, however, no preparation is required for this section of the hike.

Is it possible to climb Kilimanjaro without a guide?

No. All standard Kilimanjaro treks usually include not only a registered guide but porters to carry the trekkers gear, gas, tents and food. According to the Tanzanian law, it is not possible for travellers to climb Kilimanjaro without the support staff.

What is the night time temperature like on the summit of Kilimanjaro?

The night time temperature at the Uhuru Point can range between 20 and -20 degrees Fahrenheit (-7 to -29 degrees Celsius). Due to Mount Kilimanjaro's great height, the mountain creates its own weather.

Getting the right one is essential. TourRadar’s Kilisa was very experienced and gave my son and I a truly first class experience. They are wonderful men who act like brothers, love each other and truly cared that we were safe, made it to to the top and had an enjoyable experience. I loved every part of it from the food to the descriptions of the plants and animals and nearby mountains, to the pictures they took for me and shared shortly after the trip, to the stories and medical checks. it was just perfect for us. I just got back yesterday from my amazing adventure...the Trek was sooo beautiful I climbed Kilimanjaro with Kilisa tours..I had a great experience with the locals and the staff were wonderful..the porters , cooks made me feel like family.. So I came in November and i was not able to have my friends climb with me as I previously thought I would.. I was thinking I would feel alone.. But all of the staff made me feel right at home.. I am so greatful to have made friends with them, they created a great experience that I will remember for my entire life. The route climbed was called Machame, it was a 7 days.. I wouldn't have made it with out the support of the staff and guides, they were so positive and had good vibes, always smiling I'm happy to have met these wonderful people. The Trek was a big Challenge because i had never been up in such a high altitude..but very Amazing...word of advice "RESPECT THE MOUNTAIN" once again I'm glad I had to help from (Ramadhan) and the Kilisa Tour group Team, they allowed me to fully experience the mountain life. The whole Team took very good care of me. The Porters always had camp set up and ready for rest. The Cook prepared a top notch meal.. Just what I needed to refresh my body.I was given my meals with kindness from the server... It was soo good..I ate better on the Climb than I did when I was in town.I have Absolutely NO COMPLAINTS. I am very greatful for the experience that I was given with the Kalisa Team and all tge memories and friends I will keep from my trip..a wonderful trek from the bottom of Kilimanjaro to the Uhuru peak. From our booking to the personal WhatsApp-communication with Naick in Shawn and I spent about 2 weeks in Tanzania, with arrangements made this local tour company who supplied our guide Bacari and Tammy Throughout the Mountain and Chris during our safari and everything was taken care off porters/cook. Our trip was spent climbing Kilimanjaro 8-Days via Machame Route while we got the chance to Spend a night at Crater Camp during descent and spent 5-Days visiting various animal parks and that include Lake Manyara, Siringet, Tarangire and Ngoro Ngoro but we also we had one day to tour around Moshi town before we departure. We’re so happy we had a great experience with this company. During our safari we saw more animals and beautiful scenery than we ever thought we would, everything was just thrilling. And during the climb, well ...It was challenging but worthy the experience besides I asked Bacari and he said All ages and all types climb and summit, so don't let that detour you from trying.   Is it possible to cancel the tour if for any reason, the visa gets refused?
  
  Since we want to do a Kilimanjaro hike, visit Tanzania and do a safari, what would be the recommendation of the order we do all 3? We would arrive from Germany, we would be jet lagged, etc... Regarding our fitness level, we are sport active, we like to run and are used to hikes, but we are not climbers. I am myself not used to much to heights, breathing and being active was hard for me in Peru but my partner is used to the mountain hikes in Iran.

  regarding the safari, we really want to see the baby season, but it's early next year? When is actually the baby season that still is a dry season, too?

  The main baby season for the wildebeest migration is normally from late January to March in the Southern Serengeti and Ndutu area, when thousands of calves are born. This period is excellent for seeing newborn animals and predator action.
  
  However, this is usually considered part of the green season, so there can be some rain, especially in February and March. The landscape is very beautiful and wildlife viewing remains excellent.
  
  If you would like to combine baby season with drier weather, the best balance is normally late January to early February. During this time, you can still experience the calving season while conditions are often relatively dry compared to later months.
  
  Since you are planning for September 13, this will be a different migration experience. September is one of the best dry-season safari months, especially for river crossings in Northern Serengeti near the Mara River. Wildlife viewing is outstanding, but it is not the baby season.
  
  Both seasons are very special, just with different highlights.

Our team can collect you from your hotel or any agreed location in Arusha and transfer you to Moshi, where the trek briefing and final preparations will take place before heading to the mountain gate the following morning. The transfer from Arusha to Moshi is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, and it is a common arrangement for many of our climbers who are staying in Arusha prior to the climb.

  No, the climb to Mount Kilimanjaro does not require any previous climbing skills. On the Machame, Lemosho, Shira and Umbwe Route there is a section called the Barranco Wall that requires basic bouldering skills, however, no preparation is required for this section of the hike.
