  1. Day 1

    Guayaquil

You'll arrive in Guayaquil today, and how you spend your time depends on when your flight lands. If you have a few hours to kill, downtown has some good spots to check out, including Iguanas Park where you can actually see iguanas hanging around, Malecon 2000 along the waterfront, and Las Peñas Hill if you're up for a walk. Or you can just head to your hotel and relax. Your guide meets you at 6:30 pm to go over what's coming up and answer any questions about the week ahead.

A 1.5-hour flight gets you to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on San Cristobal Island this morning. After checking into your hotel and grabbing lunch on your own, you'll pick one of two afternoon options. The kayak tour to Darwin Bay takes about 3.5 hours and works for most people unless you have mobility concerns, and you'll get to snorkel during it. The other choice is hiking up to Tijeretas Hill with a snorkel session at Darwin's Bay afterward. Both let you see the island's marine life up close.

Once you reach the rock formation, you'll snorkel through the channel looking for sharks, fish, turtles, rays, and sea lions. Lunch comes in a box on the boat, and you'll have time to relax on the beach before heading back to town for the evening.

In the afternoon, you'll visit a tortoise ranch up in the highlands where the tortoises roam wild in their natural habitat. You'll be back in town for dinner. If you're interested, there's an option to check out the pier at night to see baby sharks and rays cruising around.

We could not have had a better tour! From start to finish we didn't have to do a thing. They seamlessly provided service from one island or tour to the next. The pace of each day was very leisurely. We enjoy all the tours at each island. Each island had such a different feel. We loves every second of our tour there. We did upgrade our hotel package to be closer to the beach or ports. This is a great idea so you are right in the best spot for restaurants and coming and going from tours. We love the hotels we stayed with just perfection. We have traveled to over 50 countries and this trip was by far our favorite! I guessing it was how this company went above and beyond. We have a rule not to travel to the same place twice. We are breaking this rule to come back to the Galapagos again next year. Thank you so much! See you next year! Brandon

Just wanted to share that our trip to the Galapagos Islands was fantastic. Everything worked out seamlessly! The hotels and the tours recommended by Guidecuador were excellent! Hotel locations in particular were ideal. We did all as promised, especially the awesome snorkeling with sharks and pinguins, that experience was very special for us. Also, the communication with the staff was very easy for us too. It was nice that we could all check out the daily plan at any time, and be able to pull up all the vouchers and tickets Thank you again Sofia and Alejandro from Guidecuador for making our bucket list place tour an unforgettable lifetime experience. We will definitely go back to you guys in our next trip to Latin America.

Most excursions were good except for two e versions: The one from Santa Cruz to Baltelomeo, the cruise ride was very rough and the captain was going too fast. And the last at Sierra Negra. Time was too tight and the terrain was very muddy. We had to leave the group and return on our own not to miss checking out of the hotel in Isabella Island and catch the speed boat back to Santa Cruz

GUIDEcuador provided a smooth tour with a fantastic itinerary. Traveling with a friend of mine, we did a tour of the Galapagos Islands starting from Quito (we were able to have them book our flights to and from the islands as well since that had not been included in the original price). The tour representatives on each of the islands were there to greet us and send us off every step of the way – we felt very well taken care of. The local guides on each excursion were fantastic. Accommodations were great – clean, and friendly staff. The tour itself was well paced with a mix of hiking, snorkeling, downtime, and so many amazing animals and experiences. I cannot recommend Alejandro’s GUIDEquador team enough for this one-of-a-kind adventure!

The islands are great. The hotels are ok, except the one in Santa Cruz witch is great, Hotel Isla. The trekking for the volcano in Isabela is very tiring, and there is no time to change before taking the speedboat back to Santa Cruz. Tourradar could give the guests the possibility to fly back, even with an extra cost. The snorkel were great, really incredible, specially the one in Leon Dormido, Kicker Rock. In all I strongly recommend this tour. Gustavo

Do your tour involve snorkeling and how many snorkeling tours does it include? Do you have the Cotopaxi and Banos tours or would that be something I would arrange through what I have today? Also do you have any beach extension to anywhere?

    Tour Details
    Transport
    • GUIDEcuador TravelOperatorWritten October 2025

Yes, our tour does include snorkeling activities. Specifically, there are three snorkeling tours included: Kayak tour to Darwin Bay, Kicker Rock Tour, Tintoreras Islet Tour, and Bartolome. Regarding Cotopaxi and Banõs, those tours are not included in the current itinerary, but we can definitely help you arrange them as optional add-ons for an extra cost. As for a beach extension, we do offer options - would you be interested in beaches on the mainland (Ecuadorian coast) or would you prefer to extend your stay in the Galápagos?

    • A

      Alexander

      TravelerWritten October 2025

Hi, yes, I am interested in both options, the Ecuadorian coast and staying in Galapagos. The primary criteria for us to consider a 4-day beach stay would be a nice beachfront hotel with ocean views and balcony rooms. If that's not available, we wouldn't stay there. And yes, if you can provide Cotopaxi and Quiltoa Lagoon Hike (2 lakes and 1 volcano) and Banos Amazon for the add-ons, that would be great.

    • A

      Alexander

      TravelerWritten October 2025

Ok, I like everything but we are looking for more of a resort hotel if we are going to spend multiple days just relaxing there. This one seems to have one restaurant only and a road between the hotel and the beach, correct? Is there anything that is more resort-like? Also, what does the Banos Waterfalls route and surroundings mean on 12/28? Is there more detail of that day?

    • GUIDEcuador TravelOperatorWritten October 2025

For a more resort-style experience, we can offer Punta Centinela at the Royal Decameron Resort. This property offers a more all-inclusive resort atmosphere, with multiple restaurants, pools, and direct beach access. Regarding December 28th - the 'Banos Waterfalls Route and Surroundings' includes a scenic tour along the famous 'Ruta de las Cascadas,' which features several stunning waterfalls such as Pailon del Diablo and Manto de la Novia. You'll also have the chance to explore the charming town of Banos, visit local viewpoints, and enjoy some light adventure activities.

how much luggage is allowed? How secure would a DSL camera be if I'm snorkeling? Is there a safe where valuables can be locked away?

    • GUIDEcuador TravelOperatorWritten January 2025

Well normally is 1 peace per person on tour + carry on bag on tour if need it. Yes hotels have safes in reception if you need it but Galapagos is very safe.

I am traveling alone but happy to share a room with another solo traveler. The extra cost for a private room would keep me from booking this tour. Is it an option to share a room?

My wife and I are planning a trip to the Galapagos in late December or early January, and we're interested in this tour. We're also hoping to include a scuba diving experience during our trip. Do you have any options for scuba diving that could be arranged in place of some of the planned activities?

We can't add diving on this tour unless you add 2 or 3 more days to this program
