    Asked on November 23rd, 2022

My wife has altitude problems. What are the highest elevations while on the trip and the altitude of the safari lodges that we will be staying in. Is there oxygen available?

What is the best time to visit? We are flexible. I understand that there is a rainy season to avoid.

What is the quality and names of the lodges. This trip to Uganda seems more expensive than others. Is there a reason?

      TravelerWritten November 2022

Is it possible to do a second session with the gorillas?

    • Explore!OperatorWritten November 2022

Most of the trip will be on the comfortable altitude 1200-1600m. There are two places Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi National parks with the highest possible altitude around 3400m but most of the part we're driving, not walking. I will ask our product team about availability of oxygen in the rooms and maybe they will have something to add about altitude.

    • Explore!OperatorWritten November 2022

Although conditions are tropical, hot and humid in the centre and west, the rest of Uganda has a pleasant and comfortable climate. The dry season is generally from December to early March and June to the end of August/early September. Temperature can vary from around 28°C during the day to 12°C in the evening. High mountain areas become much cooler at night. Most of Uganda experiences a double rainy season. Rainfall is moderate, only exceeding 1250mm a year in the higher areas. But it may rain at any time of the year, particularly in equatorial rainforest such as Bwindi.

Please, see the name of the hotels in Trip notes I've attached to this message. All the accommodation is on comfortable or premium basis.

    • Explore!OperatorWritten November 2022

It will be possible to add some extra activities and visiting gorillas for a second session. Here is the list of the options we can offer: Lake Mburo - Boat Safari $35, Bwindi - Guided community walk - US$25 per person; Guided nature walk to waterfalls in Bwindi Forest - US$70 per person; Basket weaving community visit $20 per person.
