The guide was more interested in having fun with his friends that our tour. The hotels were average to gross that they choose for this tour. You can skip the ruins in Guatemala, and the sleeping in the tent was so basic and awful. Not lights, chairs and on hard slabs of concrete. Its not worth it if you have seen ruins before. The highlight were a few of the day add on tours which you can do yourself.

I experienced this tour in May 2016 - Belize and Guatemala are breathtaking! 8 Days is a perfect week of vacation for Canadians. Our Trip Leader David was so friendly, knowledgeable and absolutely hilarious. It was great to have a local with us every day to show us the best little places to eat, fish and explore, as well as hear about politics within these two bordering countries and the history. Having the 1 night camping in the jungle in Tikal was incredible - being surrounded by the monkeys and the hum of the forest in general, waking up to see the sunrise over the temples, but also balanced out by hotels for the other 6 nights. The hotels are quaint and basic - super clean, comfortable, and centrally located. The optional activity to go through the ATM Cave in San Ignacio - don't miss doing that. The highlight of this trip was the mind blowing mayan ruins of Tikal (used for on location shooting in Star Wars) and the full day snorkel off Caye Caulker - manatee, dolphins, sharks, rays, sea turtles and thousands of fish made for an unforgettable adventure!

Impressive ruins, colourful towns, delicious food, toucans and macaws in the jungle canopy and a stunning sunset in Tikal made this trip wonderful. My personal highlight is the laid-back island of Caye Caulker. Imagine cruising with a sail boat through Belize’s crystal waters and stopping several times to snorkel among sting rays, sea turtles and even sharks (with no teeth). Great reggae music, ceviche and the famous rum punch while the sun set – it can’t get more Caribbean. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone.
