Do I need a visa to travel to Tibet?

Swiss citizens can join the tour without a China visa for 15 days, but a Tibet permit is required, which we can obtain with a passport copy.

What meals are included in the tour price?

Breakfast is provided at our 3-star hotels in Lhasa and Shigatse, with one welcome dinner on Day 2. All other meals are on the travelers' expense.

What flights should I look for to join the tour?

You should arrange flights from your location to Chengdu, and then from Chengdu to Lhasa to join the tour.

What happens if I can't find someone to share a room?

If we are unable to find another traveler to share with you, you will be required to pay a single supplement fee.

How do I book a single room if I'm traveling solo?

From the moment that we were picked up at the airport we felt looked after and everything was very well organised throughout the 15 days. Our tour guide Sonam was full of enthusiasm , knowledge and energy. We learnt so much about Tibetan culture snd during our monastery and temple tours Sonam provided us with lots of information. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he always had a smile on his face. He was very helpful in all the hotels and restaurants. Our driver Mr Norbu was a very safe driver and again nothing was too much trouble for him on the long journeys. We would thoroughly recommend Tibet Vista. Very professional! Tibet Vista is an established operator with well rehearsed tours. My agent Leon was helpful and efficient with organizing the trip. The ground team of Tibetans was excellent. The driver Mimar was super friendly and helpful, always gave out water, helped with the luggage, went down to look after one of the group members, who decided not to continue the trek. Our guide Ngawang Tenzin was a great and knowledgeable guy, who guided us through Tibet and looked after us for the entire two weeks. Always with tea and biscuits during the long car journeys. During the Mt Kailash trekking, a lot of us were struggling at points and Tenzin was always there to help: be that with the local herbal remedies for altitude (really helped me!), or carrying a backpack for a group member, who struggled, or always staying with the last member to ensure everyone got down okay.Show more

We understand that travelers may have to deal with discomfort in isolated regions, such as Darchen in Ngari and it could be a huge challenge for travelers because the shortage of materials. However, we think there are a few misunderstandings we should clarify after read the comments: for single supplement, it is added for single traveler because he need stay in a single room, and it is not for room upgrading. Of course, if there is another same gender traveler to share twin room, he does not need pay for single room supplement.

Payment information
- For any tour departing before July 2nd, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after July 2nd, 2026, a minimum payment of 30% is required to confirm your booking with Tibet Vista. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
