Welcome to a magical land
Peru invites you to bring your curiosity and experience the culture, nature, cuisine, and people that make this country truly unique.
And while Machu Picchu is absolutely unreal, there’s so much more magic to experience in Peru.
Think savoring world-class delicacies in Lima, discovering the flora and fauna of the Amazon, or hiking the challenging but rewarding Huayhuash Circuit.
So if you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure, Peru is the place to be.
Cusco and Machu Picchu
The heart of the Inca world is magic

Cusco
In the former capital of the Inca Empire, charming cobblestone streets blend Inca and colonial influences. Visit the stunning Cusco Cathedral gracing the city’s main square, stop at Qoricancha, a temple dedicated to the Sun God, and explore Sacsayhuaman, a massive fortress overlooking Cusco.

The Sacred Valley
The Sacred Valley of the Incas is surrounded by beautiful mountains and is home to many Inca sites, including Ollantaytambo, known as the gateway to Machu Picchu, the circular terraces of Moray, which the Incas used as a sort of agricultural laboratory, and the unique salt mines of Maras.

Machu Picchu
Discovered only in the early 20th century, the “Lost City of the Incas” today mesmerizes visitors with views from the Sun Gate, the sacred Intihuatana sundial, and the Temple of the Condor. To reach Machu Picchu, you can hike the Inca Trail or take a scenic train from Cusco to nearby Aguas Calientes.

The Salkantay Trek
Second only to the Inca Trail in popularity, this trek to Machu Picchu takes you through awe-inspiring Andean landscapes. Marvel at the turquoise Humantay Lagoon, cross the Salkantay Pass at 15,190 feet (4,630 m) beneath snow-capped peaks, venture into a lush jungle, and stop at a local coffee farm.

Palcoyo Mountain
Palcoyo, the lesser-known but equally stunning rainbow-striped mountain, promises an off-the-beaten-path trek through landscapes that seem to belong to a different world. With an elevation of 16,371 feet (4,990 m), which is double that of Machu Picchu, the views are quite simply breathtaking.

The Peruvian Amazon
The Loreto region in northern Peru is home to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, the second-largest protected natural area in Peru. It shelters 1,000 animal species, like playful pink river dolphins, and almost as many plant species, like giant water lilies.
If you’re in southern Peru, the bountiful Tambopata National Reserve is an absolute must. Spot caimans cruising the Madre de Dios River, hang out with monkeys, and walk on bridges high above the jungle. The reserve is also a fantastic place to spot jaguars and birdlife.
