Itinerary
- Day 1
Chavín de Huántar
You'll arrive in Huaraz and get settled at your hotel with time to rest after the journey. The next morning takes you south through the Valley of Conchucos where you'll pass through small Andean towns and see Querococha Lagoon along the way. At Chavín de Huántar, you'll walk through the ancient temple's galleries and atriums, checking out the carved stone elements that have survived centuries. Afterward, the Chavín National Museum gives you a closer look at the ceramics and other artifacts found at the site. You'll head back to Huaraz by evening.

- Day 2
Nevado Pastoruri
After breakfast, you'll travel south through the Callején de Huaylas with views of the Cordillera Blanca peaks surrounding you. A stop at the Carpa sector lets you visit Pumapampa, a natural water hole locals call the fountain of youth. From there, you'll see the Puya Raimondi plants that grow at high altitude and check out some cave paintings in the area. The main event is a 45-minute walk to Pastoruri glacier at 5,200 meters/17,060 feet, where you can walk on the snow and see the frozen lagoon up close. The drive back to Huaraz takes the evening, giving you time to rest after being at altitude.

- Day 3
Laguna 69
A morning pickup takes you through the Callején de Huaylas to Yungay, then east into Huascárán National Park. You'll pass the two Llanganuco lagoons, Chinancocha and Orconcocha, which sit among some of the highest peaks in the region. After reaching Cebollapampa, you'll hike 2.5 to 4 hours uphill to Laguna 69 at 4,600 meters/15,090 feet, surrounded by steep mountain faces and alpine terrain. The walk back down takes 1.5 to 2 hours. If time works out, you'll stop at the Campo Santo near Yungay, a cemetery site buried during the massive 1970 earthquake. You return to Huaraz by 7:00 PM for your transfer to the bus station.
