This tour was what it was advertised to be, a great opportunity to see 6 Balkan countries in 16 days. Our tour leader and the guides in each city did an excellent job of detailing the history, highlights and important locations in every place we had the pleasure to visit. It is a rich and amazing part of the world, the food was very good and we found the people friendly and willing to help if required. English is broadly spoken so no challenge when asking directions, etc. My wife and I highly recommend this trip, with two qualifications: 1) 6 countries in 16 days is a heady pace. The mode of transport is chiefly public or private bus and the train systems. There some very long days spent in conveyance. When a location is just a one night stay with an early departure next morning, it pinches your time to enjoy the destination. 2) The overnight sleeper train from Bar to Belgrade should be removed from the tour and replaced with another travel option. The train is ancient, filthy, noisy and cramped. It's more like 14 hours than the 12 hours in the itinerary. We were rousted out of bed by border guards who unlocked our door and entered our sleeping quarters. There must be a better option from the our company, or arrange a flight / more modern train on your own.

Our guide Kaelin was professional and very accommodating and our driver Jefferey was skillful. Overall the tour gave highlights of the cities that we went through although it had short sstops at some spots The hotels in Italy were not good ( cleanliness and cramped space). The tour doesn't really cater for Vegan diet but more towards a basic Vegetarian diet although our tour guide did her best to accommodate my dietary restrictions.

Where to start your Europe trip
While London is the undisputed gateway for most European adventures, Rome and Amsterdam aren’t far behind as popular starting points. If you’re looking for a Central European vibe, Vienna and Berlin are also excellent starting spots. For the best selection of dates and routes, we recommend booking about 5 months in advance. Most first-time travelers opt for multi-city tours that hit iconic capitals, but our seasoned explorers suggest a “slow travel” approach and dedicating at least 3 days to each major hub. This gives you enough breathing room to move beyond the tourist spots and dive into local food scenes and spots only locals know.

Best time to visit Europe
- Winter 2025 / 2026
There is a certain magic to Europe between December and February that summer travelers never experience. Multi-country Europe tours take you from the cozy pubs of London to the canals of Amsterdam and the romantic canals of Venice. The highlight for many travelers is the snow-capped Alps, where you swap city streets for mountain vistas. Tour guides lean into the season, leading groups to the best glühwein stalls in the Rhine Valley, tucked-away fondue spots in Switzerland, and iconic coffee houses in Vienna.

- December 2026 3,354 tours
- Spring 2026
Spring is all about the continent waking up. We’re seeing these distinct trends: classic multi-country coach tours that follow nature in full bloom from Paris to the Alps and Danube river cruises that link Vienna’s imperial palaces with Budapest’s thermal luxury. For travelers who prefer a slower pace, small-group routes from Berlin to Venice are perfect. These trips blend the history of Prague’s Old Town with active afternoons, like hiking through the rugged beauty of Saxon Switzerland National Park before stopping at a local brewery to toast the day.

- Summer 2026
Multi-country tour packages draw the most interest for summer travel, especially routes linking London to Amsterdam and Rome. Trips combine mornings that typically include guided visits and afternoons with plenty of free time so you can do what interests you. Tours in the Swiss Alps have become popular in summer because you can hike mountain trails, visit traditional villages, and enjoy cooler temperatures at lakes and in forests.

- July 2026 8,631 tours
- August 2026 8,711 tours
- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall offers a more cozy lens through which to see Europe, especially on routes connecting Vienna down to the Adriatic coast in Dubrovnik. As the summer crowds thin, the weather remains perfect for a mix of culture and nature. Think crisp morning walks through Prague followed by hikes in the High Tatras. Fall is also ideal for the Rhine Valley, where you can enjoy wine tastings in family-run wine cellars. Whether you’re learning the craft of Dutch cheese-making or enjoying cake in a Viennese coffee house, fall tours capture Europe at its most relaxed and colorful.

Will I actually need a visa for my European trip?
The short answer is: it depends entirely on your passport. Most of the popular countries are in the "Schengen Zone," which means you can travel between them without border checks. But not every country is part of that club, so you have to check the rules for each place on your list. For most tourists from countries like the US, Canada, or Australia, you can stay for up to 90 days for tourism without needing a visa. If you're thinking of staying longer or working, you'll definitely need to apply for the proper visa beforehand. And here’s a pro-tip that’ll save you a huge headache: check your passport’s expiration date. It needs to be valid for at least six months after the day you plan to fly home, or you could have a major problem at the airport.
How should I get from city to city in Europe?
Honestly, trains are usually your best bet, especially for hopping between major cities. High-speed trains, like the Eurostar that links the UK with France and Belgium, are awesome, they're super fast, and you actually get to see the countryside instead of just clouds. A big tip: book your tickets as far in advance as you can. The prices creep up the closer you get to your travel date. If you're on a tighter budget, buses like FlixBus are a solid option. They take longer, but they're reliable and can save you a good chunk of money. Renting a car gives you the most freedom to explore little towns along the way, but just a heads-up: trying to find parking in big city centers can be a real (and expensive) nightmare.
When should I book my tour in Europe?
It depends on your plans. Summer (June-August) is warm and lively, but also crowded and pricey. For pleasant weather and fewer tourists, consider visiting in spring or fall. Winter is fantastic if you want to experience Christmas markets or Alpine skiing, though many coastal towns basically shut down. Southern Europe stays warm year-round, so Greece or Portugal in October can still feel like summer. Northern countries like Norway or Sweden are great in summer with long daylight hours.
How much should I budget per day in Europe?
Costs vary a lot by country. In places like Norway, Switzerland, or Iceland, expect to spend around €150 to €200 per day for mid-range travel. That covers a decent hotel, meals at regular restaurants, and entry fees for attractions. Southern and Eastern Europe are more affordable. You can get by on €80 to €100 per day in places like Portugal, Greece, Poland, or Hungary. Big cities always cost more than smaller towns, and transportation between cities adds up as well, so factor in train or flight costs separately from your daily budget.
Do I need to buy travel insurance for my trip to Europe?
Yes, get it. Medical treatment in Europe can be expensive if something happens, and many countries now require proof of insurance just to enter. Make sure your basic coverage includes medical emergencies, trip cancellation, lost luggage, and/or emergency evacuation. Those policies typically cost around 4-8% of your total trip cost. Standard plans often exclude them. Some credit cards include travel insurance when you book with them, but check what's actually covered because it's usually pretty basic. Keep a digital copy of your insurance documents on your phone and email them to yourself.
