What people love about touring Europe solo
- Genuine Europe
Our tour was very informative and made especially special by our tour guide Suri who we can only say was excellent and caring as well as very professional in his history commentaries of all of the countries we visited while touring with him. Marie was very good as well but Suri was the best. Our hotels were of excellent standard as well for the low price we paid but still off high standard and great breakfasts. I would definitely travel with them again.
- Berlin to Venice
Loved my tour! Everything was great
- Croatian & Eastern Delights
Overall the tour was good, in that it covered a lot of Eastern Europe and the town guides were excellent. Brandem was a knowledgeable tour guide, but tended to go off at speed that left several older members behind. The coach driver Gabor was superb, helpful and did an excellent job. Munich is a city with excellent public transport connections. The Bento Inn [ the start and end of the tour] is about a kilometre from any of these and this makes life difficult with heavy luggage. It is remote from major restaurants and the path to the Metro is rough, poorly lit and through a semi industrial area. The night manager on the first night of the tour was totally incompetent. Most of the other hotels were excellent. It would be most helpful if city maps were provided especially for free days, clearly marking the meeting points. As it stood we had to walk up to a kilometre following the tour guide to allow him to point out the meeting point. This was hard given the speed he walked. The tour organisers should ensure that the tour guide has at all times a phone that works in all countries visited. This is necessary to deal with medical and other emergencies. This should not be the guides responsibility! Given these comments we enjoyed the tour.
What our customers ask about Europe Tours for Solo Travelers
Which European destinations are most welcoming for solo travelers on guided tours?
Cities like Berlin Prague and Budapest stand out as friendly destinations for people traveling alone. Their safe neighborhoods inviting café scenes and lively nightlife make it natural to meet others. The charming Baltic capitals - Tallinn Riga and Vilnius - offer welcoming Old Towns where group activities bring people together. In Prague you can join social pub crawls that wind through historic beer halls. Budapest's thermal baths create relaxed settings where conversations flow easily. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The walking tours in each city made it so easy to chat with others while exploring amazing places together."
Are there any special discounts or deals for solo travelers in Europe?
Look for "no single supplement" promotions on certain departure dates especially during quieter travel months like March-April and October-November. Some tours cut the single supplement cost by up to 50%. When you book far ahead (6+ months) you can often save $200-400 USD. As stated by a TourRadar reviewer: "I got a great early bird deal booking my solo trip to the Balkans 8 months ahead."
How do room arrangements work for solo travelers who don't want to pay a single supplement?
The tour pairs you with another traveler of the same gender in twin rooms at places like the Ibis La Defense in Paris or Hotel Duo in Prague. About 31% of solo travelers choose this shared setup according to TourRadar data. A TourRadar traveler noted "The tour company was great at matching compatible roommates." For those wanting privacy single rooms cost extra ($500-800 USD) when available. Tour operators handle all room arrangements with care making sure everyone is comfortable.
What's the best time of year for solo travelers to join European tours?
The peak season runs May through September with September drawing the most solo travelers - around 150 bookings. The pleasant weather and abundance of group activities and festivals create an ideal social atmosphere. A TourRadar traveler noted "September was perfect - great weather and lots of other solo travelers." April and October offer good value with smaller but steady group sizes. Places like the Hotel Massimo d'Azeglio in Tuscany also tend to be less crowded these months.
What activities are best for meeting other solo travelers on the tour?
Group dinners walking tours and optional excursions naturally bring people together. Popular social activities include wine tasting in the Rhine Valley gondola rides in Venice and fondue dinners in the Swiss Alps. A TourRadar traveler shared "The optional activities were where I really bonded with others in the group." Evening events like Paris cabaret shows or Prague folk dinners also help break the ice. Most tours kick off with welcome gatherings at hotels like the Radisson Blu Amsterdam where connections start forming right away.
