Can you give me names of guesthouses that you use for this tour please

The following are the accommodation locations typically visited on our group Garden Route tour. Please note that these are booked for guests according to availability, and can sometimes change. Cape Agulhas - Chateau de Marine Hotel or Oceans Boutique Guest House Oudtshoorn - Chandelier Game Lodge Sedgefield - Intoto Retreat Addo - Avoca River Cabins Wilderness - Moontide Guest Lodge or Mes Amis or Dolphin Dunes Guest House

We are over your 65 age limit. I am 71 and the other is 68. We are both active enough to do most any tour. Is there a reason why we are not able to take this tour?

I see there are some items we will not be participating... which would make me assume your limit of age. We will NOT be Scuba diving, Bungie participation, or Skydiving. We are more than capable to canoe and hike.

Is this still available? No dates after March are showing up on the website.

Yes, our tour departing on Monday, 11 May is available. I've just checked and see that we have tours loaded up until March 2028. Please let us know if you continue to struggle to make a booking then we will ask one of the Tourradar consultants to assist you.

How much for a single person in room supplement?

The cost for 1 person depends on the type of accommodation you are interested in. We offer back packer single ensuite rooms, or back packer dorm rooms. OR guest house accommodation. Once you let us know which accommodation type you are interested in we can let you know the price.

Me and my friend, both women and 24 years old, are interested in this tour. Before possibly booking, we wanted to know if a group is already starting to build up for this particular tour ? And if so, we were also curious to know the average composition of the group in terms of age and gender of the participants !

Our Garden Route tours are guaranteed to depart and we take a maximum of 12 guests on tour and we already have 8 confirmed guests booked on the 19th January departure and would love to have you along! We do not have the ages of the guests yet however I can confirm that 6 of the 8 guests are female.

I am interested in the above tour. However, I shall be 70 years old when the tour starts. Does this exclude me from the tour? I travel solo frequently, & am very capable hiking.

This is an active tour and it is best suited towards those who like to be on the move, and can comfortably walk, carry luggage, get in and out of the vehicle frequently, etc. The group is a mix between backpackers and guest house clients, and ages can range from 18 to 65 however we do manage bookings on a case by case basis. The only requirement we would have is for you to please complete our age clearance form confirming that you understand the nature of the tour.

1. Start Date (22 December) - Would there be any changes to the standard itinerary, especially since 25/12 falls on Christmas Day? Would activities, timings, or availability of attractions be affected?

1. Room Types - What is the difference between an ensuite single and an ensuite double? Is it just the room size/bed configuration, or are there other differences?

Can I book a flight out on the final day of the trip or do I need to wait until the next day to fly out?

The group usually returns to Cape Town on Saturday between 17:00-20:00. Your guide can drop you directly at Cape Town International airport however we do recommend that you book a flight departing anytime after 21:00.

Would like to receive more information about the guesthouse option for this tour. Could you confirm what they can expect if they choose the guesthouse instead of the backpacker option? In particular, they'd like to know whether the rooms include private ensuites.

We offer 2 types of accommodation on our Garden Route Tours. Backpackers have more of a social vibe and are better for clients looking for a bit of atmosphere. They usually have a bar or bonfire area. Guesthouses are a more private, quieter, luxurious experience. Backpacker and guesthouse clients travel together in the same tour vehicle. All guesthouse rooms is private with its own bathroom.

Do any of your tours visit the cango caves?

While the Cango Caves were a great stop, we found that focusing on a local farm tour where you can meet and learn about ostriches, followed by a farm tour explaining a little more about the Klein Karoo and the natural fauna and flora provides a more intimate and memorable interaction with the region's culture and nature. We can, however, assist with the Cango Caves on one of our private tours should this be a preferred option?

This was one of the best organized tours I have ever done. Gareth was a fantastic guide and really helped make the tour very fulfilling and memorable. I can tell that he is very passionate about what he does and really cared about making the experience superb for all on the tour. We did and saw so much in just 6 days, and everything included in that tour was worth doing, which is not always the case for organized tours. The food we ate during the tour was all delicious, and the self-driving safari experience in the Addo Elephant National Park was awesome. Gareth's many years of guiding experience of this tour were evident in the quality of the self-guided safari, for which he was the driver. We experienced lots of great things and got to know nice people. We had booked Double Room Backpacker and were very happy with it, always very nice rooms. Even when one of us was unwell, Mark (tour guide) supported us well. However, it has to be said that the many activities also put time pressure on us. The evening before, the tour guide drew up a schedule for the next day. We were often no longer on schedule after the first activity and then had to rush a bit or had less time at the other stops. On the other hand, this is understandable as we had to arrive at the accommodation on time in the evening. We also underestimated how much you actually sit in the car. On some days, it felt like we were just sitting in the car. However, this is also understandable as you have to cover a lot of distance on the Garden Route. We would also have liked better communication from the tour guide. Basically, there were always clear instructions, but we would have liked more information. Many people asked questions and Mark had difficulty answering everything at the same time, which led to confusion on several occasions and ultimately we weren't sure what the plan was. In general, we thought that the tour was a bit more active, as this was also stated in the description. However, our tour group also included pensioners who had little interest in hiking, for example, which we thought was a shame. On one day, for example, we went on a hike in pairs, as we had informed ourselves independently.Show more

We include travel times for each day in the tour itinerary, as well as the approximate kilometers that will be driven each day in order to best prepare clients. We value our guests' feedback and while we've been running this tour itinerary for 20 years, we have made changes in recent years to slow down some of the days, as our guests indicated that they would appreciate more free time. We try to strike a good balance between doing and seeing a lot and having time to relax and enjoy the destinations. Not every tour's timing is the same - factors like daylight hours or delays along the road play a big part in the ultimate timing of the tour. It also depends on the group and individual travelers' punctuality. Our guides brief guests in the evenings at dinner, about the following day's events and try their best to keep to timing. Guesthouses are a more private, quieter, luxurious experience. Backpacker and guesthouse clients travel together in the same tour vehicle. On day 2 & 4 of the tour both backpackers and guesthouse clients overnight in the same location - a working game farm near Oudtshoorn (Day 2) and a working citrus farm near Addo (Day 4) For 2 people travelling together you can book the following: Backpacker Twin/Double Ensuite Guesthouse Twin/Double Both options is a private room with 1 double bed or 2 twin beds and its own bathroom.

  The tour has a set itinerary and the group does so much in one day so I don't know if there would be time for Thomas to run but he can always check with the guide on tour. As for accommodation, we work with small accommodations on the Garden Route as well as Cape Town. For guesthouse accommodation we recommend, Parker Cottage and for Backpacker accommodation, Never@home.

  Also during the trip how do we do for luggage such as suitcase etc. I mean usually i have a standard 23kg suitcase, a carry one case and a backpack with me. Do you have facilties to carry these around?

  RE: luggage, we usually travel with a trailer to accommodate the guests luggage. If you want to travel lighter on tour then it is also possible to ask your accommodation to keep the luggage safe for you until your return (that only works if the same accommodation is used for pre and post tour).
  
  We have space for each passenger to have one suitcase and one "carry-on"-sized piece of luggage – a laptop bag, backpack, or similar. Suitcase size is limited to the dimension of 67 cm (26 in) by 45 cm (18 in), and carry on is limited to the dimension of 48 cm (19 in) by 32 cm (13 in). There are generally not porters or staff available to assist with luggage – your luggage should be of a size and weight you can comfortably manage yourself. Hard or soft suitcases are fine. If you have more or bigger luggage than this, please contact us in advance to make alternative arrangements, as our luggage trailers are specifically designed to fit one suitcase per person, not exceeding above dimensions.

Me and my friend, both women and 24 years old, are interested in this tour. Before possibly booking, we wanted to know if a group is already starting to build up for this particular tour ? And if so, we were also curious to know the average composition of the group in terms of age and gender of the participants !

  I wanted to know if there are still two spots left for this tour, for the dates 19th to 24th of January 2026 ? I tried proceeding with the reservation and it says that only one space remains, but I didn't understand if that means enough for two people, or one spot enough for only one person?

  This is an active tour and it is best suited towards those who like to be on the move, and can comfortably walk, carry luggage, get in and out of the vehicle frequently, etc. The group is a mix between backpackers and guest house clients, and ages can range from 18 to 65 however we do manage bookings on a case by case basis. The only requirement we would have is for you to please complete our age clearance form confirming that you understand the nature of the tour.

  One question: day 5 states that no meals are supplied. Are there markets nearby? As it's a safari day, how is food obtained please?

  The group will be visiting Addo National Park on day 5 and they will have breakfast at a restaurant inside the park. The guide will stop somewhere to get something for lunch and for dinner the group usually also goes out to a restaurant. All meals on day 5 are for guests' own account.

  A backpacker single ensuite is a private room for 1 person and a backpacker double ensuite is a private room with a double bed for 2 people. Ensuite rooms has its own bathroom.

  Backpackers have a hairdryer in the room but if not you can request a hairdryer at reception. We use small owner run accommodations with wifi in common areas, power outlets and storage. They provide towels but please bring your own beach towel and toiletries.

  The group usually returns to Cape Town on Saturday between 17:00-20:00. Your guide can drop you directly at Cape Town International airport however we do recommend that you book a flight departing anytime after 21:00.

  We offer 2 types of accommodation on our Garden Route Tours. Backpackers have more of a social vibe and are better for clients looking for a bit of atmosphere. They usually have a bar or bonfire area. Guesthouses are a more private, quieter, luxurious experience. Backpacker and guesthouse clients travel together in the same tour vehicle. All guesthouse rooms is private with its own bathroom.

Do any of your tours visit the cango caves?

  While the Cango Caves were a great stop, we found that focusing on a local farm tour where you can meet and learn about ostriches, followed by a farm tour explaining a little more about the Klein Karoo and the natural fauna and flora provides a more intimate and memorable interaction with the region's culture and nature. We can, however, assist with the Cango Caves on one of our private tours should this be a preferred option?

Payment information
- For any tour departing before April 19th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after April 19th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Earthstompers Adventures. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 35 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Earthstompers Adventures will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
