Caen
You'll arrive in Caen and settle into your hotel, then have the afternoon and early evening to yourself. The Caen Memorial is worth the trip if you want context on the region's WWII background before the walking starts. Later on, expect a phone briefing to cover what's coming over the next few days.

Benouville - Ouistreham
After breakfast, grab a taxi to the Battery Museum of Merville to start. From there you'll walk part of the Grand Randonnée trail that runs beside the Orne River with Sword Beach in view. The walk takes you to Pegasus Bridge where there's a memorial and museum to check out. You'll keep going along the canal to Ouistreham on Riva Bella to see the landing area, then visit both the Atlantic Wall Museum and the Landing museum before heading back by taxi.

Port-en-Bessin - Bayeux
Starting near Arromanches-les-Bains, you'll see the Arromanches 360 circular film showing 'The Price of Freedom' and explore the D-Day Landing Museum to understand how the artificial harbors worked. After walking the cliffs, country lanes lead you to the Longues sur Mer battery site with views over Omaha and Gold Beaches. Port-en-Bessin fishing harbor comes next, then a taxi ride to Bayeux where the 11th-century Bayeux Tapestry and other historical sites are optional visits depending on your energy level.

Omaha Beach - Bayeux
You'll head out from Colleville-sur-Mer and walk to overlooks of Omaha Beach. The path continues past vacation resorts and through an old battery site until you reach the US Military Cemetery, which spans 172.5 acres and includes a chapel and memorial. From there, walk along Omaha Beach to les Moulins, then follow the trail to the Omaha viewpoint and museum in Vierville-sur-Mer before finishing the day back in Bayeux.
