Itinerary
- Day 1
Tunis
You'll arrive in Tunis where staff meet you at the airport, handle your luggage, and drive you to your hotel. Once you're settled in, the afternoon and evening are open. If you get in early enough, walking through the historic medina or checking out Avenue Habib Bourguiba works well.

Carthage - El Jem - Sfax
After breakfast at your hotel, head out for a guided tour of Carthage's archaeological ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll see the Antonine Baths and ancient Punic Ports before moving to Grombalia for wine tasting. Later, drive south to El Jem to explore the 3rd-century Amphitheatre and walk through underground tunnels. By evening, you'll reach Sfax, Tunisia's second-largest city.

- Day 3
Sfax - Chaffar Beach
Travel south from Sfax to Chaffar Beach along the path of totality for the 2027 total solar eclipse. On August 2nd, experience totality at approximately 10:11 AM local time, lasting around 5 minutes and 39 seconds. The site has shaded areas, food, and facilities. After the eclipse, you'll have free time to rest or explore before heading back to Sfax for the night.

Matmata - Douz
Head south toward Matmata through rugged terrain that looks almost lunar. You'll explore troglodyte architecture, homes dug into the ground for natural cooling. Check out Hotel Sidi Idriss, the Star Wars filming location for the Lars Homestead on Tatooine. Then visit hilltop Tamezret to see its museum about Berber culture and traditions. End the day in Douz, the Gateway to the Sahara, where you can experience the desert with a quad bike ride or traditional camel trek at sunset.

- Day 5
Douz - Chott el-Jerid - Tozeur
Start with a visit to the vibrant Douz Souk in the town square, where traders sell colorful spices, Bedouin jewelry, and handcrafted leather goods. Then drive across Chott el-Jerid, the largest salt lake in the Sahara. Stop to photograph the otherworldly landscape with white, pink, and purple salt hues and heat mirages. You'll end the day in Tozeur, known for its distinctive yellow brick architecture and oasis with hundreds of thousands of date palms.

Tozeur - Chebika - Tamaghza - Mides - Ong Jmal
After breakfast, explore mountain oases near the Algerian border. Visit Chebika with its clear springs and natural pools, then Tamaghza with waterfalls and an abandoned village. Head to Mides for its dramatic canyon and views. In the afternoon, take a 4x4 off-road expedition to Ong Jmal, named for a camel's neck rock formation, visiting the Mos Espa film set from Star Wars: Episode I. Return to Tozeur by evening.

Tozeur - Kairouan - Tunis
Drive to Kairouan, the fourth holiest site in the Islamic world. Visit the Great Mosque of Okba Ibn Nafaa, founded in 670 AD and the oldest place of worship in North Africa, with its fortress-like exterior and marble-paved courtyard. Walk through the UNESCO-listed Medina of Kairouan with winding alleyways and whitewashed houses. Browse the souks, see famous carpets, and try makroudh, the local date and honey pastry. Then head north back to Tunis for the night.

You'll see Punic artifacts and Hellenistic bronzes set in Arabic-Andalusian architecture. Then explore the Medina of Tunis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enter through Bab el Bhar gate and wander covered alleyways, bustling souks, and hidden courtyards around the Zitouna Mosque. Finish your afternoon in Sidi Bou Said, a coastal village on a cliff with blue-and-white buildings and panoramic sea views.
