  Friendly and helpful guides. They had a guide for English clients and another for Spanish. The guides were both from Bulgaria. This tour is beyond ON THE GO. They need to add at least one more day to the schedule. You should arrive no later than 5 PM at any destination. We were scheduled to stop in Brasvov, Romania, but we didn't. The hotels were good. Most were centrally located. I was impressed with the local guides. I appreciate the number of evening meals included in the price of the tour. There were no any hidden costs as paying extra to eat at a local restaurant or taking a special excursion. This may be because our schedule was so rushed.Show more

  I had the absolute best time on this trip, exceeded all expectations. Coordinating travel through the Balkans especially is not easy but the operators did a fantastic job. The itinerary was fast paced but still allowed free time to roam and explore which was important to me. There were not a lot of English speakers but I felt welcomed and included, everyone made sure I was attended to just as well as the Spanish speaking majority. I also felt entirely safe and comfortable as a solo female traveler. I will say that this itinerary is very active, I'm a high energy person so long days with many stops and a lot of walking was just right for me but I'd be mindful if you have health conditions or fit certain demographics that may struggle. There are especially a lot of climbs and stairs. Like I said, just right for me personally but perhaps not everyone else.   There was too much time spent on the bus and not enough time to see the sights around or outside of each city...
  There was too much time spent on the bus and not enough time to see the sights around or outside of each city visited. We only got to see the very central parts of the city. A few days in each place would have been better. Too many none english speaking passengers. There were not the same bonding as would normally take place with a larger group of english. Many were Spanish. If we had known this we would never have taken the trip. First bus we were on for three days was an older bus and the seating was very tight and uncomfortable and bus was hot. After being out on each walking tour, we got into a bus that had been closed up. The driver had not put the aircon on in advance to cool the bus. This resulted in sweeting on the bus for several hours before the inadequate aircon worked. Second bus we were on was newer, more comfortable and the bus driver George Dimitrov always had the bus cool before we got back on after a walking tour. He was a fantastic careful driver and very thoughtful. The english speaking tour guide Bilyana Shirokanska was very helpful and did her best to get us ahead of the crowds.Show more

  I will give this tour (Balkans Route - 9 days Romania to Albania) 5 stars. There is a lot of moving parts, so I factored this into my expectations, and overall I think it went well. Did the tour match the summary itinerary advertised and the more detailed itinerary sent once I booked? Yes, absolutely. Most days were a good mix of travelling and visits to interesting places, usually of historic significance, and often good views en route. Were the travelling tour guide & local city guides good? Yes, in particular my English speaking guide Bilyana was excellent, and I rather like a previous reviewer, looked after me like a mother hen too. Were the hotels good? Yes, 3 were excellent, others very good & one adequate. Food, where provided, good also. Minibus/coach ok. Some tickets included too. Overall, I felt this was an excellent value tour. I was able to briefly sample 6 countries in 10 days, visit some great sites, with little stress. As previous reviews have stated, the tour group was predominately Spanish speakers, and Europamundo European tours are heavily promoted in Latin America. However, that meant that I was initially in a minibus with 2-3 other English speakers. This meant we got a head start on the coach for the large Spanish speaking group, so we got through border crossings and toilet stops far more quickly, allowing us much more time to visit the tour stops, and able to easily listen to our travel guide Bilyana or the local English speaking guides. Worked well for me as a solo traveller, so highly recommended.Show more

  The tour was very disorganised with 12-14 hour days in the bus. Often we would get in too late to find a meal. Our tour guide did not speak very good English and provided the bare minimum of information. Dietary needs were not catered for and we were travelling as 2 buses, so the group was way too big (50-60 people) and did not work at all. The itinerary was repetitive and boring with not one photo stop or ability to get out of the bus in any areas of nature at all. I would not recommend this trip to anyone.Show more

  Giving this tour a Solid A. My English-speaking tour guide, Bilyana, was amazing. More on her in a minute. The tour really allows you to explore the Balkans and learn the individual histories of each country. The hotels were all great. In Croatia we were right on the water in a 5-star stunner. The tour was well balanced between hitting the important sites, getting the local history, exploring the Capitals, and having some free time. Please note, these tours are moving. We're hitting a lot of places each day. I like to say they're geared towards travelers as opposed to tourists. But travelers that want to take it somewhat easy. And let others deal with logistics. And the prices are of great value. Yes, you may be in the minority of English-speaking people in the group, but the Spanish speaking travelers are extremely friendly. Just learn a couple phrases like "Buenas Dias" and "Hola" and you'll be fine. Now, Bilyana Shizokanska, my Bulgarian guide was just amazing. She was always looking out for me like a mother hen, and had the sweetest disposition. All the tour guides are awesome, knowledgeable and speak multiple languages. But Bilyana went out of her way to make me feel welcome and guide me through the Balkans. So, like I said: I'm giving this tour a solid A.Show more

  I cut my trip short and went home 3 days early. I completed the first 6 days but Because the schedule was too Draining and uncomfortable. . The Ad said ages : 0-99. I am 59 and felt like cattle being led around with zero comfort. I Paid $1000 for new plane ticket back to USA: Days were way too long. Breakfast at 7am dinner not till 9pm. The Itinerary I was given was vague. Had I known this I would not have gone: Daily schedule was: 14 hours of travel on bus and attractions without going to hotel to rest. Bus was old and full- packed too crowded in tiny seats. At times the bus was wayyyy too hot. People in back had to keep asking for air conditioning. . Very uncomfortable. Driver drove 3-4 hours no bathroom breaks. Too many people to wait for 50 people to wait in line for single gas station bathrooms and get back to bus. One lady was 20 minutes late. The positives:: Cities were interesting and pretty. Hotels were all very good. Best part: The tour guides Maria and Victor were very nice. Eng and Spanish Caring. And gave good narration.Show more

  The trip was great however we were a bit surprised to realize that we were the only 2 English speaking travellers amongst 40 Spanish speaking travellers. We were a bit disappointed as we’d been looking forward to meeting new people. We made due and our tour guide Inigo was amazing and really helpful. The tour itself was great, our only issue was the length of time spent in Romania viewing the smaller towns. We wished we spent more time in other countries/cities that had more to offer. The hotels were amazing, much more than I expected. Overall I would consider booking with Europamundo again but I would definitely brush up on my Spanish before hand.Show more
