- Day 1
Lhasa
Your guide meets you at Lhasa airport and takes you to the hotel. Spend this first day settling in and getting used to the altitude, which sits around 11,975 feet above sea level. Rest is key here, so take things slowly, drink plenty of water, and get good sleep. Most people adjust well by the next day, so don't worry if you feel a bit tired or lightheaded.

- Day 2
Lhasa - Nyingchi
Head out from Lhasa toward Nyingchi on a 420km drive that takes about 7 hours. Stop at Kadinggou gorge for an hour to walk around this scenic ravine with virgin forests, mountains, and waterfalls. The route follows the famous Lalin Expressway, one of China's most beautiful highways, so you'll see snow-capped mountains, forests, and grasslands perfect for photos along the way.

- Day 3
Nyingchi - Basomtso
After breakfast, drive to Segrila Mountain to see Namjagbarwa peak from Segrila Pass if weather cooperates. Then explore the Lulang Forest area, which has diverse trees and open meadows. Check out a viewing platform for views of snow-capped peaks, and continue on to Basomtso Lake where you'll stay the night. Along the way, visit Biri Holy Mountain to see the Prayer Flag Array and sacred mountain areas.

Basomtso - Lhasa
Explore Basomtso Lake, a national forest park with snow mountains, lakes, forests, waterfalls, and pastures. Stop at Jieba Village, a place that looks like it came straight from a fairy tale and gives you the best views of Basomtso and the surrounding snow mountains called 'King's Throne' and 'Burning Flames'. After that, head back to Lhasa on a 360km drive that takes about 6 hours.

Lhasa
Spend time at the Traditional Handicraft Art Center learning Tibetan culture. You can make Tibetan incense, try woodblock printing, and learn to write your own Tibetan name or blessings. Later, head to Sera Monastery to watch monks debate, usually held Monday through Saturday from 3:00pm to 5:30pm (weather and monastery schedule permitting). After that, either wander Lhasa's streets or head back to rest at your hotel.

Lhasa
Start at Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site built in 641 AD with its halls, murals, and statues. Then go to Jokhang Temple, which holds a statue of the 12-year-old Buddha and is one of Tibet's most sacred sites. Finish by walking through Barkhor Street, the circumambulation route where you can pick up souvenirs like handicrafts, costumes, tea, prayer wheels, and Tibetan incense.

- Day 8
Shigatse - Everest Base Camp
Leave Shigatse heading toward Mount Everest and take in views of blue skies, floating clouds, endless grasslands, and the world's highest mountain peaks. Stop at Rongbuk Monastery, the world's highest altitude monastery, before you get to Everest Base Camp where you'll spend the night.

Everest Base Camp - Shigatse
Get an early start to cross Gyatso La Pass, also called the Dingri Boundary, at 5,248 meters elevation. In the afternoon, drive back to Shigatse on a 350km route that takes about 7 hours. If conditions permit, you might catch the sunrise at the Base Camp before heading out.

Shigatse - Lhasa
Visit Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama, Tibet's second-highest religious figure. Walk through the complex of chapels, shrines, and halls, check out the main hall where monks chant, and see the distinctive red Jamkhang Chenmo building with its 90-foot tall Maitreya statue built in 1914. From there, head back to Lhasa by train or vehicle on a 270km trip taking about 5 hours.

Lhasa - Namtso Lake
Drive about 280km from Lhasa to Namtso Lake, one of Tibet's three holy lakes and a major stop for tourists. Stop at Nyenchen Thankghula peak at 7,162m for photos and views of this sacred mountain from around 4,800m elevation. Along the way, you might see nomad families and wildlife like yaks, wild donkeys, wild yaks, rabbits, and foxes. Cross Laken La pass at 5,190m before reaching Namtso. The full trip back to Lhasa is 360km and takes about 7 hours.
