- Day 1
Haarlem to Ship
You'll check out of your hotel this morning and head out on a canal cruise through Haarlem. The route takes you past historic architecture, bridges, and a windmill as you wind through the waterways. Later in the afternoon, you'll transfer to your ship for embarkation, so make sure you're back in time to get settled into your cabin before dinner.

Amsterdam to Kampen
Start the morning with a canal cruise through Amsterdam's 165 waterways, taking in the water-lined streets from the boat. After that, you'll board a scenic cruise heading through the IJsselmeer to reach Kampen. Once there, you have two options to choose from: head to the village of Giethoorn with its characteristic thatched-roof farmhouses, or go on a guided bike ride through the Dutch countryside instead.

Lelystad to Utrecht
This morning brings a scenic cruise through the delta before you arrive in Utrecht, which has been the religious center of the Netherlands since the 8th century. Walk through the medieval old town with its canals and Gothic cathedral, or head to Museum Speelklok to see automatic musical instruments from centuries past. If you prefer being active, bike through the city with a guide, or take a separate trip to De Haar castle for a different kind of history.

Utrecht to Ghent
You can walk or bike through Ghent to learn about the Capital of East Flanders, or travel to nearby Bruges instead, which is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities. If you choose Bruges, the Church of Our Lady holds a Michelangelo sculpture you can see, and you might visit later in the day. For Ghent, the Castle of the Counts has medieval collections worth exploring. Both options give you a different perspective on Flemish culture and history.

Brussels
This morning in Brussels, you can pick from a few different activities. There's a guided walking tour if you want to learn about the city on foot, or a guided bike ride through Laeken Park where you'll see the Far East Museums and the Atomium sculpture. If you're interested in something different, there's a Belgian chocolate tasting to try instead. By afternoon, you'll head to Gaasbeek Castle, a 13th-century fortress that was originally built to protect the Duchy of Brabant.

Later choose what appeals to you: a local beer tasting, Belgian waffles and food specialties, an afternoon bike tour around the city, or the Red Star Line Museum, which tells the story of the shipping line that brought three million immigrants to America.

Learn about Dordrecht's history on a walking tour, since it's Holland's oldest city founded back in 1220. Or head to Rotterdam instead, called the 'Gateway to Europe,' and check out Delfshaven where the Pilgrim Fathers left in 1620. If you're into architecture and cycling, take a bike tour through Rotterdam. Another option is Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with 18th-century windmills that you can explore on foot or by bike.
