  This is a well organized and efficiently run cruise operated by a sincere and enthusiastic staff. From the moment we told Marta we did not speak French, and she said “That’s a problem,” the staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. Tour Radar is misleading by calling this an English guided tour. Make no mistake, this is a French tour run by a French company out of a French city. Almost 90% of passengers were French with a dozen Spanish speakers and two English speakers being us. Despite that, we had a great time and made friends with a wonderful Spanish couple.Show more

  Our Rhine, Moselle and Mainz cruise was outstanding. It was just 6+ days long but hit the highlights we wanted to see. The staff were well trained and ever so friendly and efficient. The cabins, as with any cruise, a bit small but adequate and the boat itself was in very good shape. Our stops and optional excursions were also very well planned and executed and we took each and every one of them. So for those not wanting a more extensive cruise, I can highly recommend this cruise and the cruise company. There are a couple of points to be aware of, however, depending on the type of traveller you are: The cruise line is French and most passengers are French speaking. in fact, we were the only four English speakers. It was not problem for us as the staff were all multilingual and we had many pleasant attempts at conversations with some of the French who spoke a bit of English. Strasbourg is where the cruise starts and it is not the easiest place to get in and out of, either by train or airplane, as opposed to say, starting in Amsterdam. And as a fully booked cruise, space in the dining area and lounge area was a bit tight esepecially when some of the more generous bodies attempted to squeeze into their seats! The drinks were included, generous and of high quality and it was easy to over indulge. The luncheon and evening meals were preselected but there was vegetarian option. The meals were very French indeed and some in our American group did not care for patois, meat compotes and other specialties.\ At the end of the day, I would use this cruise company again without blinking an eye.Show more

  Food was lovely and almost central to the trip. Took some beautiful photos and enjoyed the explorations on land (esp. Rudesheim where I found the St. Hildegard church). Interesting to talk to our table-mates about history and politics. Beds were too soft. Staff was very helpful and friendly.Show more

  Booking through TourRadar was easy and convenient. This was our third European river cruise with three different cruise lines ( Gate 1 and A-Rosa were the others). We sailed on the Lafayette. The best thing about this cruise was the staff. They were all excellent. Special mention to Eniko, Anna, Mailyse, Isabella, and Katia. The cabin was a fair size and the bathroom was large. Water pressure in the shower was excellent. The dining room was rather small and cramped. The breakfast was buffet while lunch and dinners were set menus of French cuisine. There was no choice of menu items (other than vegetarian meals arranged in advance). Breakfast coffee was surprisingly average to poor. Unlike our previous cruises there was no self-serve specialty coffee machines on board. As previous reviewers have mentioned most of the passengers speak French and there is little English translated even when the tour is advertised as being in both languages. My biggest complaint woul be the lack of food choices at dinner. While I’m in the minority of people who don’t appreciate French cuisine exclusively I believe the cruise experience would have been better if we were given some choice each night for meals.Show more
