  Is there a tour starting after I arrive in Auckland in the afternoon? Also, as solo traveler, do I have to share room or can I get my own room? How does it work with hop on and off?

    HOPPING OFF AND HOPPING ON: Kiwi Experience passengers often choose to "hop-off" and stay longer than minimum time. If you decide to stay longer than planned, simply rebook your buses through Bus Planner. During our peak season (December-March) we strongly recommend booking your buses in advance to ensure there is space on the days you want. Some amazing locations to spend those extra days are the Bay of Islands, Rotorua, Wellington and Queenstown!
    
    WHAT IF THE BUS IS FULL ON THE DATES I WANT? Kiwi Experience buses are at their most popular during summer. We recommend you book in advance if you are travelling during this season, and especially if you have a strict time limit. If it's not possible to travel on the exact date you want, search for the next available bus through the Bus Planner or call or email us to discuss your plans.
    
    BOOKING ACCOMMODATION: You can book your accommodation (dorm rooms) for the 'minimum stay' through the Trip Planner. If you want a private room, you will need to book and arrange this with each accommodation provider independently. Make sure you sign up by 7am, 2 days before - otherwise, you'll need to organise this separately for yourself. If you decide to hop off and stay longer, you'll also need to book the additional nights yourself. Remember to reschedule your accommodation bookings through 'my accommodation' if you are rebooking your buses.
    
    I would recommend our Geyserland pass (Auckland > Hot Water Beach > Waitomo > Rotorua > Auckland); we have a bus departing Auckland on the 28th, with one night in each destination, you would arrive into Rotorua on the 30th of January. However, we do not have a bus going from Rotorua - Auckland bus on the 31st I'm afraid, you would need to arrange your own transportation to Auckland in order to make your flight.

  I was wondering if this can be done kind of backward, i.e., start in wellington and going north?

    You can start the pass from Wellington if you wish but the pass will not travel in reverse. If you start from Wellington, your itinerary would look like this. Wellington to Auckland, Auckland to Hot Water Beach, Hot Water Beach to Waitomo, Waitomo to Rotorua, Rotorua to Taupo, Taupo free day, Taupo to Wellington.
