San José
You'll arrive in San José and get transferred to your hotel, which serves as your base for the next 5 nights. This gives you a comfortable spot to settle in before heading out to explore everything Costa Rica has to offer.

Arenal Volcano - San José
Start the day heading out to Arenal volcano, once Central America's most active. You'll stop in the charming town of Sarchi to watch traditional Costa Rican ox carts being crafted, grab lunch in La Fortuna, then soak in the natural thermal springs at the volcano's base. After that, it's back to San José for the evening.

- Day 3
Braulio Carrillo National Park - Sarapiquí - San José
Travel through the rainforest of Braulio Carrillo National Park to reach Sarapiquí in the northeastern region. Board a boat for a river cruise where you'll spot monkeys, iguanas and birds, followed by a short forest hike. After lunch, take the cable car high above the treetops, then check out the butterfly gardens, orchid exhibition, and frog display. Stop by the Sloth Habitat and Care Center before heading back to San José.

Alajuela - Poás Volcano - San José
Drive through Alajuela to see the Juan Santamaría monument and Mango Park. As you head toward Poás volcano, the landscape shifts to show coffee plantations and colorful flower, fern and strawberry fields. A guided walk through the Doka coffee plantation covers growing, harvesting and roasting, plus you'll taste the final product. Visit Poás volcano to see the main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, then finish with lunch at La Paz Waterfall Garden and a rainforest trail to a waterfall.

Puntarenas - Isla Tortuga - Puntarenas - San José
Travel along the Panamericana to Puntarenas and set sail on a catamaran through the Gulf of Nicoya, passing small islands. You'll arrive at Isla Tortuga with its light-colored sandy beach for relaxing. Try snorkeling or ride a banana boat (both included), then enjoy a beach buffet for lunch.
