We have bigger bags (check-in size). What we used to do in the past was: we would repack both of us into one bag and leave the other bag at the hotel at which we are staying before and after your tour. Is this acceptable (one bigger bag for two people)?

On this tour, the weight of your luggage should not exceed 44lb (20kgs) per person, and the size should be approximately 22in x 17in x 10in (55cm x 45cm x 25cm). The weight is more important, so if your bags are slightly larger than the above dimensions but still under the per person weight limit then this will be fine for you to bring on the bus.

Do you have any tour dates late April, early May 2026 yet?

We have not yet published our 2026 tour programme so we are unable to confirm this at the moment. We are hoping to publish our schedule around the end of August so please check back with us around then for an update.

Will we be able to access the Calanais Stone Circle on the July 6-11,2025 tour?

Yes I'm afraid the Calanais Standing Stones are closed until Spring 2026 so we won't be able to visit there on our 2025 tours.

I have just read the brochure on line - sadly I cannot print this. Could I have a copy when I arrive at boarding please. Further, I am sad to see that you do suggest we may not see the Calanais Stone Circle - perhaps the main feature for me to see. I understood they would become available for the 2025 season. Can we at least pass them please for a photo or two?

Is there a mix of solo travellers for the June 2025 departure dates?

We have 4 single passengers on the 17th June departure, 1 on the 24th June and none so far on the 29th June. These numbers may change before tour departure.

If I book this Rabies tour via TourRadar understand you will be booking my accommodation with BnBs and some of the reviews have very negative comments about the quality, so how can you guarantee reasonable quality and location?

Yes if you book this tour package we will book all your accommodation during the tour, and this is included in the tour cost. We regularly check our accommodation suppliers to make sure they are of a high standard. There are limited options with regard to accommodation in the remote towns in the North of Scotland, so it only B&Bs we are able to book for this tour. We don't tend to get negative feedback regarding the accommodation on this tour, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Is the tour fully guided or are we dropped off at different places to explore on our own? Also, how much walking is involved.

Each driver-guide has different styles of guiding. Our tours have a driver-guide who drives and guides while en route. You'll get free time at stops to explore at your own pace. You can choose where to eat and how to spend time at locations without having to keep up with a guide or other travelers.

Would 6 people justify a private tour basically following this itinerary but with perhaps more pub stops along the way. We are 6 women 60-70 who think we are 50 and we love to party, dance ad sing with locals.

Accommodation great except the room in Stornaway was very small and located upstairs without steps. Hospitality excellent. He was very very knowledgeable of Scottish History and the land. The timing and pacing of the tour was perfect. We felt very safe with his driving. He was helpful, friendly and entertained us with a plethora of local folklore, and historical stories. I would book with this tour guide again in a heartbeat. We were on 3 different tours, (2 with Rabbies), and this tour was by far the best! The group of 16 travellers were all friendly and interested. It was a good mix from all over the world. We continue to keep in touch online and share photos with each other. Iain also grew up on the Island, and took us to local places, sharing with us his knowledge of growing up there with lots of great stories. The Beaches on Harris are among the best in the world. The scenery in both Harris and Lewis are breathtaking and cannot be beat. Rabbies booked our accommodations in various hotels and B&B's. All excellent, with friendly hospitality. Special thanks to our tour guide Bruce who's very entertaining mix of history, folk tales, and unfailingly amusing commentary on random stuff along the way made the long drives particularly enjoyable. For this particular tour - the 6-Day Outer Hebrides & Skye - we only offer B&B packages, due to the limited options for hotels in Ullapool and Skye.
